Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke announced he would not seek another term as mayor. Indiana Democrats see this as a pickup opportunity for the 2023 election year.
In light of this breaking news, the Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement:
“Evansville has brighter days ahead and Hoosier families have a better future in front of them thanks to Democrats in state and city government. More than $171 million of American Rescue Plan dollars are being used to update school facilities, secure mental health services for Hoosiers, and provide economic development across the community. Democrats delivered these investments and secured this better future for families in Evansville, and Democrats look forward to winning back this seat in 2023.” – Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party
