Parker and Enchelmayer post low scores for Aces
 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a solid performance across the board for the University of Evansville golf teams as they completed the Benbow Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
UE’s men came home in third place in the final standings while the women came home 12th in their tournament.
Mallory Russell and Caitlin O’Donnell recorded the top finish for the ladies, tying for 42nd in the individual standings. Russell led the Purple Aces following the opening day of play before shooting an 83 in the final 18 to post a 162. O’Donnell registered an 80 in round two and matched Russell’s team-low for the event.
Tuesday’s low round for the women came from Allison Enchelmayer, who carded a 79. Combined with Monday’s 84, Enchelmayer finished with a 163 and tied for 26th. Alyssa McMinn finished the tournament with a 173 while Carly Frazier was one behind with a 174. Magdalena Borisova scored 169 as an individual.
Butler took top honors in both the team and individual championships. The Bulldogs dropped their score by 13 strokes between rounds to finish with a 609. Following a 311 on Monday, the Bulldogs scored a 298 on Tuesday. With a 609, they defeated IUPUI by just one shot. Ally Ross of BU was the medalist. Identical rounds of 70 gave her a 140, which finished six ahead of the competition. Evansville’s final tally of 660 was good for 12th.
On the men’s side, Evansville was led by Caleb Wassmer and Carson Parker. The duo tied for second place with 2-round totals of 144. Wassmer paced the team with rounds of 73 and 71 on his way to the second-place tie. Parker was one of four UE individuals and had a team-low 70 (1-under-par) in the final 18. Combined with his opening round of 74, Parker tied Wassmer’s low score for the tournament.
Taking second on the Aces squad and tying for 10th in the final standings was Nicholas Gushrowski. He dropped his score by four strokes, improving from a 76 to a 1-over 72 on Tuesday to finish with a 148. Dallas Koth carded rounds of 78 and 77 to tie for 21st with a 155 while Isaac Rohleder was two behind him with a 157. Rohleder opened play with an 84 before making the largest jump for Evansville, shooting a 73 in the final 18. Michael Ikejiani also saw an improvement, going from an 86 to an 80 to tie for the 35th position.
Parker led UE’s four individuals with his second-place tie. Henry Kiel tied for 17th with a 151. His rounds finished at 74 and 77. Masatoyo Kato tied for 24th (157) while Eli Rohleder came home in a tie for 31st following a final total of 161.
Purdue Fort Wayne swept the team and individual championships. With a 575, the Mastodons defeated Butler by 16 strokes. Evansville came in third place with a 604. Kasey Lilly of PFW was medalist with a 140. Following an opening-round score of 72, he carded the low round of the event on Tuesday, coming in three under with a 68.
Both teams are set to take part in the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational, which will take place on Friday and Saturday in Daytona Beach. The men will be playing on the LPGA International – Hill Course while the women will hold their event at LPGA International – Jones Course.
