McMinn leads UE over opening 36 holes

 GRANDOVER, N.C. – Finishing the second round with a 78, Alyssa McMinn led University of Evansville women’s golf team in the opening day of the Grandover Invitational.

 

Shooting a 6-over in her second round, McMinn completed the first day of action with a 158 to rank in a tie for 28th on the leaderboard.  Her opening 18 finished at 80.  Caitlin O’Donnell was second on the UE squad, carding a 2-round tally of 163.  O’Donnell wrapped up round one with an 80 before scoring an 83 in Monday’s final 18.  She is tied for 42nd.

 

Two behind O’Donnell was freshman Magdalena Borisova.  A consistent day on the course saw her open with an 83 before lowering her second-round total by one stroke to an 82.  Borisova is tied for the 47th spot.

 

Allison Enchelmayer opened Monday’s action with an 82 before falling to an 85 in round two.  Her 167 enters round three tied for 54th.  Carly Frazier registered rounds of 89 and 90 to score a 179 on day one at Grandover.

 

East Tennessee State has a substantial lead on the team side while holding the top three individual positions.  ETSU posted team scores of 296 and 292 on Monday to post a 588 and hold a 20-stroke lead over the competition.  South Dakota was second with a 608 while Towson stands in third place with a 612.

 

Alex Crafton of ETSU paces the individuals with a 144.  She carded rounds of 74 and 70 on her way to the lead.  Teammates Hollie Muse and Tereza Melecka are second and third.  Their scores checked in at 145 and 146, respectively.

 

On Tuesday morning, the final 18 holes will take commence with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET.
