Eagles Stay Hot After Record Setting Tournament​​​​​​​

COLLINSVILLE, Ill – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Golf had a record-breaking performance to finish second in the McKendree Bearcat Dual Gender on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles carded 853 (-11) on the tournament, shooting 285-283-285, which sets a school record for 54-holes, breaking the previous record of 870 (2018).

USI as a team led the pack in average par-3 score, with an average of 3.03, as well as average par-4 score, averaging a 4.12 score. The Eagles also led in total number of pars with 176.

Freshman Jason Bannister (Laguna Niguel, California) led the way for USI, finishing tied for third. Bannister carded a 211 (-5) over the three-round tournament, shooting 73-70-68, which is tied for first all-time in USI Men’s Golf history for a three-round score. He also went 5-under on par-5s (4.67) and finished seventh in total birdies with twelve.

Sophomore Jace Day (Bloomington, Indiana) and freshman Nathan Hoss (Evansville, Indiana) both finished tied for sixth, carding a 214 (-6) on the tournament. Day shot 71-70-73, leading all competitors in pars with 41 and also going 6-under on par-5s (4.60), which was tied for sixth. Hoss shot 69-71-74 and finished tied for eighth in birdies with eleven.

Senior Zach Williams (Mt. Vernon, Illinois) completed the three rounds tied for eleventh, carding a 216 (E), shooting 72-74-70. Senior Matthew Kingston (Springfield, Nebraska) rounded out the tournament for USI finishing in 25th while carding a 224 (+8), shooting 77-72-75, he was also tied for first in average par-3 score with 2.93 (-1).
