EVANSVILLE, Ind.— University of Southern Indiana Baseball and Head Coach Tracy Archuleta announced the addition of Josh Merrill as an assistant coach in 2022. He will assist with the hitting, catchers, and outfielders.

“(Josh) comes to USI with strong coaching resume and baseball experience as a student athlete at three levels as an undergraduate,” said Archuleta. “We are very fortunate to have a coach with his experiences join our staff.”

Merrill comes to USI after one season as an assistant coach and sports information director at Neosho County Community College (NCCC) in Chanute, Kansas. He worked with the offense, catchers, and outfielders during his tenure at NCCC.

Prior to his season at NCCC, Merrill spent five years coaching high school baseball throughout the state of Kansas after a four-year collegiate baseball career.

The Wichita, Kansas, native started his student athlete experience at NCCC (2011-13), helping the Panthers to a pair of NJCAA World Series appearances and back-to-back NJCAA top five national rankings. He completed his collegiate tenure at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock (2014) and King University (2015).

Merrill graduated from King with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2015 and from Oklahoma State University with a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration in 2019. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children, Carson, Hudson, and Oaklee.
