Olympic Swimmer Lilly King Makes Evansville Proud BY WENDY MCNAMARA

Lilly King, a lifelong resident of Evansville, continues to make the United States proud with another remarkable performance at the Olympics.

In 2017, I had the honor of hosting King at the Indiana Statehouse and I authored a resolution to recognize her achievements, including earning two gold medals for the 100-meter breaststroke – which set an Olympic record – and the 4×100-meter medley relay at the Rio Olympics.

Recently, King added a silver medal and a bronze medal to her collection for her performance in the 200-meter breaststroke and the 100-meter breaststroke at the Tokyo Olympics.

A graduate of Indiana University, King set multiple records and won four NCAA championships in the 100-meter breaststroke.

In September, King will be inducted into the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. Hall of Fame for her athletic prowess and service to the community.

King is a role model and inspiration to others. Please join me in congratulating her on her performance at the Olympics.
