EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Basketball announced the transfer of 6-foot-3 guard/forward Myles Belyeu from Saginaw Valley State University. Belyeu, who will have two years of eligibility at USI, is the third addition of the spring and the fourth signing of the year by Head Coach Stan Gouard.
“Myles is a 6-foot-3-inch, guard/forward that brings experience at the DII level,” said Gouard. “He brings athleticism, versatility, and scoring ability from the perimeter and near the basket, as well as make plays for his teammates.
“We are excited about his ability to impact both ends of the floor and his growth as a versatile player,” continued Gouard. “Myles comes from a fantastic family and we look forward him joining us.”
A second-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate honoree, Belyeu led SVSU with a 17.5 points per game and posted a career-high 35 points in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal win over Wayne State University. He had 15 double-figure games during 2020-21, five contests with 20-points or more.
In 2019-20, Belyeu earned second-team All-Midwest Region (D2CCA) and District (NABC) after posting 21.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. The 21.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest ranked second and fourth, respectively, in the GLIAC.
The three-time All-GLIAC performer finished his career at SVSU with 19.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He started 71 of 72 contests during his three seasons.
Prior to playing at SVSU, Belyeu lettered in basketball and football at Trotwood-Madison High School (Trotwood, Ohio). He was the District 15, All-Area, and conference Player of the Year as a senior, in addition to earning a honorable mention All-State and two All-Conference awards.
In addition to Belyeu, the Eagles have welcomed 6-foot-2 guard Isaiah Stafford; 5-foot-10 guard Isaiah Swope; and 6-foot-7 forward Jack Mielke to the squad for next fall.
