The University of Evansville track and field team completed action of day one of the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship, hosted by Southern Illinois.
Anna Lowry made history once again, taking home the 10,000-meter championship, which marks the first outdoor title for the Purple Aces in program history. Lowry made a move around two Loyola runners halfway through the race to earn the conference championship. Lowry finished the 10K in 34:46.70, which was 0.56 seconds ahead of the next runner.
Justus Donaldson broke the program record and captured second place in the javelin throw. Donaldson earns all-conference honors with the 57.01-meter attempt.
Ian Alberts took eighth place in the pole vault with a 4.42-meter attempt, matching the effort of two others.
The Aces sit in fifth place in the women’s team rankings with 10 points and sixth place on the men’s side with 8.33 points.
Day two of the MVC Championship will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the multi-events.
