Vanderburgh County Covid-19 Resource and Awareness Task Force

The Resource and Awareness Task Force will conduct a third neighborhood drive up testing site Wednesday, August 12, at 4100 Covert Ave.  This is the location of the former Health South Rehab Hospital and will be conducted in the facility parking lot.  The drive up testing clinic will start at 5 pm and run until test supplies have been exhausted.   

Details for the testing site are listed below:

  • Testing is for only Evansville/Vanderburgh County residents and identification will be required.
  • No appointments will be required.  Individuals will be tested on a first come first serve basis.
  • There will be no restrictions on receiving a test, such as being symptomatic.
  • Testing will be free of charge, but if individuals have insurance they will be asked to provide their insurance information for billing purposes.
  • All those who come to receive a test will be asked to wear a facial covering until they are tested.  If residents don’t have facial coverings they will be provided one.
  • Individuals will be asked for basic personal information so results can be provided and follow up case management can occur if positive results are determined.
  • Children under the age of 18 may also be tested with consent from a parent or guardian.
  • Those who are unable to drive to the testing site can walk up to receive a test.  These individuals will also be asked to wear a face-covering before they receive a test, and be provided a face covering if they do not have one.

The Task Force asks the media to respect the privacy of these individuals and not capture their faces on camera.

  1. Thank God local officials are trying to protect our Citizens.

    National efforts were abandoned long ago by the White House.

    And WE are all paying the price w/ 1000+ deaths a day, high unemployment and closed schools, businesses and churches.

    It didn’t have to be this way. Trump is a failure.

      Democrat Response to Coronavirus: End Trump’s Travel Bans on China, Iran

      House and Senate Democrats are responding to the coronavirus outbreak in the United States by supporting measures to effectively strip President Trump of his authority to impose travel bans to protect American citizens.

      While Trump has implemented travel bans on China and Iran — two of the most coronavirus-affected nations in the world — House Democrats are looking to roll back the president’s authority to enact travel bans from regions of the world.

      The “No Ban Act,” introduced by Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) and co-sponsored by 219 House Democrats, would have prevented Trump from immediately implementing a travel ban on China once the outbreak of the coronavirus spread past its origins of Wuhan.

      Instead, the No Ban Act would have allowed travelers from Wuhan to continue to arrive in the U.S. while the president received guidance from Congress.

      “This bill imposes limitations on the President’s authority to suspend or restrict aliens from entering the United States and terminates certain presidential actions implementing such restrictions,” a summary of the legislation reads.

      The legislation would mandate Trump “only issue a restriction when required to address a compelling government interest,” though that interest is not defined. Before imposing a travel ban, Trump would have to “consult with Congress,” the legislation dictates.

      Likewise, Democrat Senators Christopher Murphy (D-CT), Christopher Coons (D-DE), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) have introduced legislation to stop Trump’s recent expansion of a travel ban on some legal immigration from Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Sudan, along with Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.

      The legislation states:

      No funds, resources, or fees made available to the Secretary of Homeland Security, or to any other official of a Federal agency, by any Act of Congress for any fiscal year may be used to implement or enforce Presidential Proclamation 9983 … which restricts the entry into the United States of nationals of certain countries.

      The effort to end America’s ability to implement travel bans comes as the number of coronavirus cases hits 1,107 nationwide, including 32 deaths.

      Democrats’ fight to keep U.S. borders open to the world during the spread of the coronavirus was echoed by 2020 Democrat presidential primary candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) this week when he explicitly said he would not close America’s borders to protect Americans from the coronavirus.

      • Biden Now Says the China Travel Ban He Opposed Should Have Happened Sooner

        Last week, Joe Biden flip-flopped on President Trump’s travel ban with China, coming out in support of it after calling it “hysterical xenophobia” for two months.

        Now, he’s trying to blame Trump for not implementing the ban sooner.

        “You got to go faster than slower. And we started off awfully slow,” Biden said on ABC News’ This Week. “He indicated that I complimented him on — on dealing with China. Well, you know, 45 nations had already moved to keep — block China’s personnel from being able to come to the United States before the president moved,” Biden claimed. “So, it’s just — it’s about pace. It’s about — it’s about the urgency. And I don’t think there’s been enough of it, urgency.”

        Joe Biden lives in a alternate reality.

        Over 2 months ago, when Trump announced travel restrictions with China, Joe Biden was criticizing Trump for “xenophobia.”

        Today, Biden criticized Trump for the speed he enacted the travel ban.

        But, Biden’s claim that 45 other nations had already blocked Chinese nationals from coming into their countries is simply not true. President Trump’s travel ban with China was put in place on January 31, which was a month and a half before the World Health Organization (WHO) even classified the coronavirus as a pandemic. It’s also worth noting here that the WHO officially opposes travel bans, and Trump was widely criticized for his ban. Eventually, other countries followed suit, because experts admitted that they worked for slowing down the spread of the virus and saved lives in the United States….
