USI finishes longest road trip of the year​​

University of Southern Indiana Men’s Basketball returns to the road this week to complete its longest road trip of the season when it visits Maryville University Thursday in St. Louis, Missouri, and Missouri University of Science & Technology Saturday in Rolla, Missouri. The Screaming Eagles are slated for a 7:30 p.m. start at Maryville and a 3 p.m. tip at Missouri S&T.

The next home game for the Eagles is February 13 when it hosts Lindenwood to start Homecoming week. The quick two-game homestand concludes with the Homecoming game versus 13th-ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis February 15.

USI Men’s Basketball Week 12 Quick Notes:

USI back on track. USI got back on track to start the road trip with an 83-74 victory over Lindenwood University. The Eagles were led by the game-high 29 points and 13 rebounds by junior forward Emmanuel Little.

Eagles 1-1 on first half of road trip. USI is 1-1 in the first half of the four-game road trip (73-68 loss to #15 UMSL; 83-74 win at Lindenwood). Junior forward Emmanuel Little leads the Eagles with 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in the first two games, while junior forward Josh Price is second with 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.

Little surpasses 1,000 point plateau. Junior forward Emmanuel Little became the 21st Eagle to surpass the 1,000 point plateau after tying a career-high with 29 points versus Lindenwood. He also became the seventh Eagle in USI history to have a 1,000 or more points and 600 or more rebounds.

USI in the GLVC. The Eagles remain tied for seventh in the GLVC standings after the win at Lindenwood. USI also takes over fourth in the GLVC Point Rating System. The top eight in the point standings qualify for the GLVC Tournament in March.

Tough in the GLVC. USI has found it tough going in the GLVC this season. The Eagles are averaging 81.1 points per game overall in 2019-20, but 74.2 points per GLVC contest. The squad also is shooting 47.8 percent overall and 43.8 percent in league play.

Last time USI played 4 in a row on the road. The last time USI played four-straight on the road was 2014-15 with the Eagles going 2-2 (loss at Drury University; win at Missouri University of  Science & Technology; win at Saint Joseph’s College; loss at University of Indianapolis).

Leading the Eagles in 2019-20. Junior forward Emmanuel Little leads four USI players averaging in double-digits with 16.0 points per game with junior forward Josh Price following with 13.3 points per outing. Little also leads the team with 7.8 rebounds, while Price follows with 7.7 per contest. Junior guard Mateo Rivera and senior guard Joe Laravie follow in the scoring with 12.0 and 11.4 points per game, respectively.

USI at Maryville. USI leads the all-time series versus Maryville University, 11-2, after winning on the road in January 2019, 80-75. Senior guard/forward Kobe Caldwell led the Eagles during the win with 22 points.

Maryville in 2019-20. Maryville closes out this week with a visit to Drury University Saturday afternoon. The Saints, currently, are in the cellar of the GLVC standings with a 0-11 GLVC mark, 4-14 overall.

USI at Missouri S&T. USI has a 17-3 all-time series lead over Missouri University of Science & Technology, 7-1 in games in Rolla, Missouri. The Eagles won the only meeting last year, 96-64, at the Physical Activities Center and were led by junior forward Emmanuel Little with a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds, and senior guard/forward Kobe Caldwell with 16 points.

Missouri S&T in 2019-20. Missouri S&T enters the week on a four-game losing streak and a 4-14 overall record, 2-10 GLVC. The Miners host McKendree Thursday before welcoming Eagles.
