The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force arrested a man for felony drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at his Northern Vanderburgh County home. Dr. James Michael Conkright was arrested for Cultivation of Marijuana as a Class D Felony and Possession of Paraphernalia as a Class A Misdemeanor.
Task Force Officers, acting on a tip, went to 2046 Oldbury Way to investigate a narcotics complaint. During the course of their investigation, sufficient probable cause was obtained to seek a search warrant for the residence. Once the warrant was signed, the subsequent search resulted in the discovery of a sophisticated marijuana grow operation in the basement of the residence. A number of marijuana plants were seized by investigators. A quantity of firearms and ammunition were also found in the residence and were seized by agents with the ATF.
Dr. Conkright was arrested without incident and booked into the Vanderburgh County Detention Center. Conkright was able to bond out of the confinement center shortly after being booked.
Let’s see. A DOCTOR, with no prior convictions, is growing a plant with medical value in his basement, and we throw him in jail?!?
WOW! We have SOOOO much freedom today. Ridiculous! The DRUG WAR must end! The Drug War is a war against all people!
We are a nation of laws. People are to follow the law/s until it is change. What is hard about understanding that?
Jim Crow has spoken.
What a waste of resources. Fight real crime you pansy LEOs.
Nice job Evansville PD. You took a respected and nonviolent 60 year old doctor off the street for a handful of plants in his basement for personal use. He was actually using responsibly, not buying from a pusher that ultimately got his weed from some seedy cartel guy in Mexico. Good work.
Any update from his court hearings?
Any updates on this Editor? I thought I read he has a court date now.
