The following email was sent out by the Chamber of Commerce this morning to encourage supporters of the $37.5 Million gift to the hotel developer to show up in force at Monday night’s Citty Council meeting.

I would like to encourage everyone in these neighborhoods to attend their local public meetings. In general, my opinion of the Chamber is not all that high. Could be wrong around here but have run into major issues in the Indianapolis area with them and a certain large insurance company working together to trample individual rights.
I enourage you to support the Downtown Hotel Project. It is the right thing to do.
Doubling and tripling down on other bad investments would be just like expanding ObamaCare after it has been proven to be damaging. Are you for expanding ObamaCare too?
Chamber of Commerce?
“Pickpockets of Evansville”, would be a more accurate description.
If you read the documents that are available concerning the hotel project, you will determine that more than one-half of the contract refers to the virtual give-away of the land for the apartment complex portion.
IMHO, the apartment complex should have been considered as a separate piece of business.
When the Fraud (sic) was proposed, were not the architects and other planners aware that they needed storage space. Those who were a part of that scam, should never again be permitted to participate in any local government projects. Yes, they could be rejected under a “lowest and best” provision in bidding procedures. Being incomplete in planning would certainly remove them from the “best” category.
Monday night is the first chance that the public will have to even look at the business plan for this project. It is an “informational” meeting.
It would be foolish and counter productive for “supporters of the project” to “pack” this meeting. Let the plan come out and let the council ask the questions that need to be asked. Leave the dog and pony show at home.
