“’READERS FORUM” JULY 4, 2019

We hope that today’s “READERS FORUM” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way.

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND TODAY?

Todays “Readers Poll’ question is: Do you feel because the Democratic party doesn’t have a Mayoral candidate it’s going to hurt City Council canidates?

  1. The Vanderburgh county political scene is one continuous comedy skit. The adversarial party system has been dead so long, it isn’t even in the memories of voters any longer. I believe the political intellectual corruption, which started with the election of Weinzaphel and continues with Winnecke, has so damaged Evansville and Vanderburgh county, it will take a miracle to repair. It appears the low voter turnout displays the willingness of the citizens to close their eyes and except their fate. The 2020 census, I believe, will be very interesting.

    • A lot of folks, particularly the unions have made a lot of money off the last 2 mayors and there’s still more to be made. The new jail is going to be a money pit for the citizens and a boon for democrats. There has to be a lot of book cooking when your yearly budget runs out in 9 months. We’ve already lost most of our homestead exemption, wonder what is next? I really believe that if Winnecke could pull it off he would make Evansville a sanctuary city. I understand from a recent article in the C&P that there are 17000 Hispanics in Evansville, I believe this makes them a larger minority than African Americans. Winnecke wants that voting block.

  2. Has Parke been tested/examined/interviewed for dementia?
The Steve Melcher debacle and now the City Councilman-at-Large candidate issue.
Whew! Either Parke has some big cujones or there’s some serious plaque growth in his synapses and neurons.
