Juveniles caught breaking into cars overnight near Melody Hills

On Tuesday, June 04, 2013 at approximately 3:00 am, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 3300 block of Bexley Court in reference to subjects breaking into cars. The reporter stated he woke up and looked outside. He observed several individuals rummaging through his wife’s car which was parked on the street.

The reporter responding deputy sheriffs that he gave chase to the subjects, following them north through the neighborhood but lost sight of them by some wooded area. However, one of the suspects had dropped his wallet with his identification inside. After checking several locations, the deputies were able to locate all three juveniles involved and transported them to the command post for interviews along with their parents. The involved juveniles are all fifteen years old.

During the course of the interviews, the juveniles admitted to entering several, unlocked vehicles in the surrounding area and stealing cash, electronics, and other items of value. At this time, deputies are following up on other calls related to this incident and the investigation is still on-going.
