Aces and Bulldogs Meet At 5 P.M.
On Tuesday, the University of Evansville softball team is set to play host to Butler University in a 5 p.m. game at Cooper Stadium.
The Aces are coming off of a series victory over Loyola. After dropping the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader by a final of 9-6, UE rallied to take the final two games of the series. Izzy Vetter retired the first nine batters of the second game in helping Evansville to the 5-3 win. On Sunday, Vetter tossed a 1-hitter while Haley Woolf added four RBI to give UE a 9-1 win.
Woolf had a stellar weekend series against Loyola in leading the Aces to a pair of wins. Woolf went 4-10 in the series with her first career home run, three doubles and eight runs batted in. Woolf capped off the weekend with a career-high four RBI in the series-clinching victory on Sunday. The freshman entered the weekend with just one RBI.
Vetter threw two of her best college games to help the Aces earn a series win over Loyola. In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Vetter retired the first nine Rambler batters before finishing with the 5-3 win. Her top game as a member of the Aces came on Sunday when she threw a complete game 1-hitter. Vetter struck out five batters in earning her second win in as many starts.
Sophomore Allison Daggett batted .714 for the week, recording five hits in seven at-bats. She posted a double and two RBI in four games. Daggett was a perfect 2-2 in Saturday’s 5-3 triumph over the Ramblers and followed that up with two more hits in Sunday’s 9-1 win.
Butler enters Tuesday’s game with a 10-19 mark and dropped two of their first three Big East games. Jenna Foreman is the top hitter for the Bulldogs, checking in at .340. Foreman leads the squad with 18 runs. Five Butler players have double-figure RBI’s, led by 13 from Sammy Andersen and Karli Ricketts.
