  1. I hope we look into the Eagle Valley golf course that the EVSC bought. I heard rumors that they lost $300,000 dollars last year. As a non golfing taxpayer it needs to shut down. It cost a lot to mow and water everyday. As a taxpayer what did I pay for another golf course?

    • I believe the purchase agreement with the Brinker’s was the Brinker’s would operate and maintain it for a set number of years after the sale. That time frame may have ended, so, to date, other than the purchase price, I don’t think the golf course has cost the EVSC anything. The EVSC acquired the golf course to obtain property to build the new McCutchanville school and for future growth, not to operate as a golf course.
As far as the Evansville Airport Authority owning Thunderbolt Pass golf course, that property was the okd Vanderburgh County Poor Farm. When that facility sat vacant anderburgh County leased the property to Bob Hamilton for a golf course. When that lease expired the county transferred the property to the Airport Authority who was anticipating a potential expansion of the airport in that direction. The expansion didn’t go in that direction and the Airport Authority keeps the golf course open to derive some income ftom it.

  2. There was a question last week, is their anything to stop the EVSC or the Airport to partner with Vectren or someone else to convert the golf courses into solar farms? I sure hope they could be stopped for the neighbors sake.
