“IS IT TRUE” SEPT 17, 2018

We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE we wonder why the City of Evansville has put in $106,908.00 in their 2018 Downtown Parking Garage budget for contractual services for the Downtown Doubletree mix Garage?

IS IT TRUE we are puzzled why the two fiscal conservatives on the Evansville City Council have been extremely quiet during the 2019 budget hearings?

IS IT TRUE we are told that a Democratic member of the Evansville City Council was told if they go along with the political agenda of the Winnecke administration they will not run anyone against them in the 2019 City election?

IS IT TRUE we had a couple readers complained that several candidates running for public office may in violation of the City/County right away set back ordinance for political signs?  …we recommend that the persons in charge of placing political signs for Nick Hermann, Chris Kifer, Mike Duckworth, John Montrastelle please check and see if their signs located on the corner of Outer Lincoln Ave and Newburgh Road are in violation?  …we also recommend that Chris Kiefer, John Montrastelle and Mike Duckworth take a look and see if their signs located on the right of ways at Burkhart and Lincoln Avenue are in compliance of the local City/County right away set back ordinance for political signs

IS IT TRUE last week the Board of Directors of The Tri-State Alliance of Evansville addressed a claim by a former Executive Committee and Board member that they may have misused funds? …during the press conference Wally Paynter, Tri-State Alliance president stated: “After reviewing all records, all donations, all expenditures, we found that everything was in order?”  …Mr. Paynter also stated that “we made an error and that error was with the 990’s?” …he also added that “Regrettably, we met the deadline with the extension, we met the deadline to file the 990 and that would be the 2016 public statement but we did not include a schedule A?”  …we are glad to hear that the next step to be taken by the Board of Directors of The Tri-State Alliance is to initiate an audit? …we expect that the results of the audit will be made public when completed and that everything will be deemed in order?  …we are pleased that the Board of Directors of The Tri-State Alliance have taken this controversy head on and know that they will continue providing a valuable service to the people they serve?

IS IT TRUE that “Jacobsville Join In” received their operating funds from the Evansville DMD?  …recently they closed their North Main Street offices without fanfare?…we hope the reason for the abrupt closing of “Jacobsville Join In” office located on North Main Street didn’t have anything to do with the current “Forensic Audit” being conducted at ECHO Housing Corporation?  …it’s time that the Director of the Evansville DMD come forward and make a public statement concerning this issue?   …that so far the only thing we are hearing about the abrupt closing of the “Jacobsville Join In” North Main office from the Director of the Evansville DMD office are crickets?

IS IT TRUE it was recently announced by officials of the Deaconess Hospital-Evansville that they are building a new Health Care facility next to the IU Medical School in downtown Evansville?  … that a CCO reader told us that she tried to find out what Deaconess paid for the land to build this new healthcare facility?   …she told us that not only couldn’t she find out how much Deaconness paid for the property but also who’s owns it?  ….all we can say is that this very interesting?

IS IT TRUE we are hearing that the Mayor Winnecke and his first lady are going all out to help Mike Duckworth get elected as the next County Commissioner of Vanderburgh County?

IS IT TRUE we are told that long time 4th Ward City Councilwomen Connie Robinson will not seek re-election?  …that Alex Burton is being groomed to replace her on the City Council?

IS IT TRUE we are also hearing that a group of Evansville taxpayers is working on a blog that will be able to inform Evansville taxpayers on how much of our tax dollars has been spent by the Mayor and City Council members on capital projects during the last 7 years?  …we hear that the breakdown of the costs for these capital projects will be mind-boggling?  …we are told that they this group are planning to disseminate this information to the masses during the 2019 Evansville City election?  …we predict that this will be an interesting read?

Todays“Readers Poll” question is; If the election was held today for the Vanderburgh County Commissioner who would you vote for?

  1. If Deaconess bought land that the City purchased for the medical school, the City should disclose all that information.

  2. What to think about Judge Kavanaugh’s liberal activist accuser from a high school party?? She’s looking for the fame that Anita Hill received from the left in the “high tech lynching” of Justice Clarence Thomas.
    ………………………….
Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who claims she was physically attacked at a high school party by Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh three decades ago, has taken part in events opposing President Donald Trump, including a science march in California last year where she donned a version of the “pussy hats” worn at the January 2017 Women’s March.

Authorities have arrested and charged a woman in Long Island for making up a story about a Trump-related hate crime, police said.

Adwoa Lewis, 19, told detectives Friday four teenagers confronted her as she was driving home on September 2, yelling “Trump 2016!” before stating that she did not belong here.

Lewis also claimed that she parked her vehicle in front of her house, then woke up the next morning to find her car’s tires slashed and a note with the words, “Go home,” police said.

But when authorities investigated the alleged incident, police found that Lewis fabricated the tale and the incident never took place.

Lewis later admitted to officers she placed the hand-written note on her car, police said.

Authorities charged Lewis with one count of making a false punishable written statement before releasing her on an appearance ticket.

Authorities have received many reports of alleged “hate-crimes” in connection with the 2016 presidential election.

In November 2016, a black man in Massachusetts admitted that he made up a story about two white men threatening to lynch him while saying the U.S. is “Trump country,” and an 18-year-old Muslim woman in Louisiana told police she lied when she claimed Trump supporters removed her hijab and called her names.

Police charged the 18-year-old with filing a false police report.

  3. “A school district in Alabama will be proudly displaying the nation’s motto, “In God We Trust,” despite the constant assaults on Christianity and American history from the left.

The Cullman County school board last week unanimously approved a resolution to display “In God We Trust” in county schools, according to WVTM-TV.

The motto will greet students when they walk into the front office of all schools in the county’s system.

This is a bold act by any local government in a time when liberals are trying everything they can to separate school children from any semblance of Christianity….

However, the phrase “In God We Trust” also has deep historical meaning outside of its religious connotations. According to the Treasury Department, it first appeared on U.S. two-cent coins in 1864 — while the Civil War was raging. Its use on currency was sporadic after that until, in 1956, it was declared the national motto by a joint resolution of Congress. It has been on U.S. currency since 1957.

Cullman County Superintendent Shane Barnette stressed the importance of the motto’s historical meaning….

The Cullman County school district is taking a bold stance by proudly displaying the phrase “In God We Trust.””
