Rear End Crash Injures Illinois Couple, Driver Arrested for DUI

user29376-1360508320-media1_636365_192_240_PrsMe_Last night, February 9, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Indiana State Police and Gibson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 41 near C.R. 400 South that seriously injured an Illinois woman.

Preliminary investigation revealed Bill Sempsrote, 67, 7906 East Laurel Lane, Robinson, IL, was driving his 2006 Toyota utility truck northbound on U.S. 41 near C.R. 400 South. Marcus Osborne, 27, of Henderson, KY, was also northbound on U.S. 41 behind Sempsrote when he collided into the rear of the utility truck. Osborne was driving a 2005 Chrysler 300. After impact, Sempsrote’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled over. Sempsrote’s wife, Janet, was ejected from the vehicle. Bill Sempsrote was trapped and had to be extricated. Janet Sempsrote, 57, was air-lifted to St. Mary’s Hospital where she is currently being treated for serious injuries. Bill Sempsrote was also taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he’s being treated for a non-life threatening head injury. Both vehicles were totaled.

Further investigation revealed Osborne had a blood alcohol content of .15%. He was arrested and taken to the Gibson County Jail where he’s currently being held on bond.
