All I can say to my friends in N Harmony, dont wait until the Wabash is lapping on the door of the Roofless Church before you get the river in check. Dont be like Evansville (my home) and let your infrastructure totally collapse and then be mandated at a much higher cost to fix what you can fix today much cheaper. Our county jail is a prime example.
Thanks Mack. The Wabash River is our constant companion in New Harmony and needs to be taken seriously. More seriously than some our elected Town Council members and County Commissioners are doing. The total cost for New Harmony of the one time study of the condition of the Northern shoreline is $7,500. As you have read, Posey County Commissioner Jim Alsop turned down Councilman David Flanders in his request that the County contribute a mere $3,500. We can pay a small amount now as insurance against a shoreline collapse or we can pay a great deal more later if that shoreline were to collapse without notice during a time of stress, like the annual Spring flooding.
