The Medical Assisting Program at the Ivy Tech Community College Evansville Campus has been awarded continuing accreditation by the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) until 2027. The Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Site Surveyors reported no deficiencies based on their onsite review on October 23 & 24, 2017.
“I am very proud of the faculty and staff at Ivy Tech Community College and their dedication to ensure we are assisting our students with meeting their career goal to become a Certified Medical Assistant, as well as preparing them for their role within the health care industry,†said Ivy Tech Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel.
Kyra Hiatt, program chair for the program, explained that medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of a health care delivery team, performing administrative and clinical procedures. “According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations,†Hiatt said.
