Women’s Track & Field records top 10 finishes at UIndy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women’s Indoor Track & Field competed in the UIndy Collegiate Challenge Saturday afternoon, recording multiple top 10 finishes.

USI had four top 10 finishes in the 3000 meters, with senior Kate Duty (Owensboro, Kentucky) in third with a time of 10 minutes, 53.97 seconds. Junior Emily Roberts (Fredericktown, Ohio) was sixth, and sophomores Ashley Lawhorn (Frankfort, Kentucky) and Ellie Tjelmeland (Springfield, Illinois) ninth and 10th, respectively.

The Screaming Eagles were also well represented in the mile, as junior Micalah Booher (Pendleton, Indiana) took third in 5:28.28. Senior Allyson Watson (East Peoria, Illinois) placed fourth in the event.

Three top 10 results also occurred in the 1000 meters, as junior Kate Henrickson (Boonville, Indiana) came in fourth in 3:07.39. Junior Allison Rollins (Newburgh, Indiana) brought home sixth and junior Sarah Hamilton was 10th.

Freshman Amanda Moore (Farmersburg, Indiana) had a top-five finish in her first collegiate event, taking fifth in the 600 meters in 1:49.27.

USI also got third and fourth place finishes from their 4×800 relay teams.

The Eagles return to Indianapolis next Friday and Saturday for the UIndy Tom Hathaway Distance Classic.
