Using the results of the last national election to form their political strategy going forward, it seems that some local politicians, with the help of establishment funds, are attempting to reinvent themselves and hope that the voters have short memories in future elections.
With the results of the city council vote on the local income tax, it should be apparent to all that the combined city-county government that voters voted down is, in fact, alive and still breeding.
Some house cleaning will be in order.
Does anybody truly believe that Park was against the 17% income tax increase? Winnecke is delusional in regards to fiscal awareness and with the help of Clowncil, i.e spearheaded by Two-Fifths McGinn, the only answer is to raise income taxes, increase the wheel tax, reduce our homestead credits without one dollar reduction in “Spend-a-Buck Winnecke’s budget. Where did the $12.5 from Tropicana go? Remember the advancement on the new lease? Why isn’t Two-fifths asking that question?
Remember this?

The city, i.e. Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, would have us believe that water and sewer costs are driving the need for increased TAXES, when water and sewer costs are paid by USER FEES.
To be as plain spoken about it as I can be: it is the constant stream of corporate welfare projects that are run through a branch of the local chamber of commerce more commonly known as the Department of Metropolitan Development, and the tax exemptions that those projects enjoy, that make up the ever expanding need for higher taxes. The city is caught on a carousel and act as if they do not know how to get off. The ultimate act of fiscal irresponsibility has to go to Jonathan Weinzapfel and the downtown arena project. That project and its attendant debt load has placed Evansville in a predicament where the options for extrication, while still trying to move the city forward, are extremely slim. Lloyd Winnicke is certainly no Mitch Daniels.
But what Winnecke IS, is a Donald Trump.
Deficits, deficits, deficits. No tax cuts, no tax reform, no health care reform and ever increasing health care costs, no repeal of Obamacare, making deals with Democrats when he gets lazy, and increasing the Budget for stupid public works projects like a border wall, that taxpayers get the bill for.
You criticize one for doing those things, yet applaud the other, when he does exactly the same thing, press.
Agree, a housecleaning is in order…… but if he resigns Parke gets to pick his replacement. The pick will be another old cronie, through feeder. That’s all they know.
