For the third-straight race, sophomore Stanley Chepchieng was the top finisher for the men’s team with a 14th place finish. The Kabarnet, Kenya native completed the 6k race in 19:35.8.
Closely following Chepchieng were freshmen Dawson Hood (19:46.2) in 16th and Tyler Frields-Reifsteck (19:57.3) in 18th, while sophomore Ricky Hendrix finished the course in a time of 20:15.2 in 22nd.
Rounding out the Aces’ men’s team were a trio of freshmen as Kalen Ochs (21:05.0) finished 34th, Andrew Barrett (21.28.8) finished 39th, and Timmy Miller (21:46.2) crossed the finish line in 42nd.
For the Aces women’s squad, sophomore Sienna Crews, the two-time defending champion of the event, paced the Aces with a sixth-place finish in a time of 18:52.8 in the 5k race.
Following Crews was freshman Anna Lowry in eighth who bested her PR by 54 seconds with a time of 19:00.0. Just five seconds behind Lowry was junior Ashton Bolser in 10th who set a new PR with a time of 19:05.24.
Freshmen Izzy Dawson (20:12.6)Â and Lauren Meyer (20:16.7) crossed the line in 20th and 22nd, respectively, as each smashed their PRs.
Rounding out the Aces’ runners were freshman Alexis Sutherland (21:02.5), who set a new PR and finished in 34th, and junior Hayley Elliot (22:56.1) in 48th.
Both the men’s and women’s races were won by Memphis with the Aces men’s and women’s teams both finishing ahead of Tennessee State among the five-team NCAA Division I field.
Evansville next runs Saturday, September 30 at the Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
