Two Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation administrators have been named Principals of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP). Thompkins Middle School Principal Bryan Perry, and former New Harmony High School Principal and now Assistant Principal of Lodge Community School, Douglas Mills, will officially be named District 11 Middle School Principal of the Year and District 11 High School Principal of the Year, respectively, on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the 2012 Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration.
District Principals of the Year are elected by their peers and one principal at each school level – elementary, middle and high – is selected in each of the 12 districts. Out of the 12 principals selected at each level, one will be selected as the State winner at the award celebration.
District 11 is located in southwest Indiana and is comprised of Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Martin, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.
I congratulate them. They still have a lot of work to do. Thompkins got a “D” grade and Lodge got an “F”.
Many Vanderburgh County Schools need serious improvement. We all need to help out.
