Unemployment Rates Keep Dropping by Wendy McNamara

Indiana is on track to have the lowest unemployment rate ever.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development recently reported that Indiana’s unemployment rate was 3 percent in June, whereas last year it was at 4.5 percent during the same month.

Our unemployment rate is falling at the second-fastest rate in the U.S., and is lower than the national average of 4.4 percent.

This means more businesses are calling Indiana home! New commitments were made this year by 164 companies and they have plans to create over 17,000 high-wage jobs statewide.

In addition, Indiana was recently ranked as one of the top three most affordable states to live.

It’s clear Indiana’s supportive environment for business and low cost of living is paying off. I look forward to building upon this momentum and working to keep us on this positive path.
