Due to the approaching retirement of Battalion Chief Dan Grimm, Fire Chief Mike Connelly made an addition this morning to his Executive Staff with the appointment of Ron Campbell to Division Chief, a newly named position which replaces Battalion Chief.
Campbell, a 37 year veteran of the department has been a Captain for 35 years and assigned to Station #10, one of Evansville’s busiest stations, which is located in the Jacobsville neighborhood. Campbell will take over Fire Operations and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position.
Campbell has received silver and bronze merit awards for actions taken on the fire scene and was the 1996 Greenriver Kiwanis Firefighter of the Year.
Campbell was sworn-in this morning at the Fire Department Administration Building by Deputy City Clerk Ashten Stenftenagel. Also present was his wife Pat, his sons Clay and Clint and other family, friends and co-workers.
