Katterhenry leads UE women in Benbow Invitational

Aces back in action on Wednesday 

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Kayla Katterhenry grabbed a top ten finish as the University of Evansville women’s golf team earned a finish of 5th place in the Benbow Invitational at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

Katterhenry registered an 83 in Tuesday’s final round to finish the event with a 161, good for 8th place.  Maria Pickens also picked up a top 15 finish.  Her score of 86 gave her a 166 for the event as she came home in 13th.

Giulia Mallmann was third for the Purple Aces.  Her scores of 89 and 90 gave her a 179, putting her in a tie for 32nd.  Tying for 37th was Lexie Sollman.  She carded a 92 in the last round to complete the tournament with a 183.

One behind her was Carly Waggoner.  Identical rounds of 92 put her in 39th with a 184.  Madison Chaney wrapped up the tourney with a 185 to take 40th.

Flagler College’s Lara Ardler was the top individual.  She had the low round of the tournament on Tuesday – an even 72 – to finish with a 148.  She defeated Oakland’s Morgan Smith by five strokes.

Oakland was the top team finisher as they scored a 308 in the two rounds, topping Flagler by four.  Butler was third with a 332 while USI (337) and Evansville (338) completed the top five.

Tomorrow, UE remains in Jacksonville for the Bulldog Invitational at Windsor Park Golf Club.
