Vanderburgh County Health Department
Mosquito Activity Update
Evansville, August 13, 2012 – The Vanderburgh County Health Department will be performing Adult Mosquito Control (Adulticiding) beginning Wednesday, August 15th, 2012, weather permitting, in targeted areas of the City of Evansville.
The spraying will be within an area bound by Pollack Ave., I-164, Boeke Ave., and US Hwy 41. A map of the area to be sprayed is included with this release.
If weather conditions prevent spraying on Wednesday, August 15th, the Health Department will spray on the next available day.
The Health Department urges you to follow these simple guidelines to reduce your chances of coming into contact with mosquitoes:
¨ When outdoors, especially near dusk and dawn, use insect repellant. Be sure to read and follow the label directions when applying these products.
¨ Make sure screens on doors, windows, and porches are in good repair to prevent mosquitoes from getting inside.
¨ Reduce breeding habitats by emptying buckets, removing discarded tires, and changing the water in wading pools and bird baths once a week.
¨ Keep the grass cut and landscaping trimmed as adult mosquitoes use overgrown areas as safe places to rest.
