Todays “READERS POLL†question is: Do you feel that the Mayor has been  a good steward of the public trust?

Just in case you were wondering why the City of Bloomington In wants to be a refugee enclave for military aged Syrian Muslim “refugees” imported to the USA, this may help explain:
“Rally seeks to designate IU as a sanctuary campus”
http://www.idsnews.com/article/2016/11/rally-seeks-to-designate-iu-as-a-sanctuary-campus
?????
I read the linked article, it doesn’t appear to have anything to do with Syrian or other middle eastern refugees who by definition will be ‘documented’. It seems the students – – all 50 of them at the rally – – are exclusively concerned with ‘undocumented’ (lib-speak for illegal hispanic) immigrants. The Syrian immigrants coming over are here legally, assuming they come in through the channels set out by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
DeltaB, you are right. The reference to the Syrian Muslim relocation in Bloomington is addressed below. Remember some of these “refugees” are unvettable:
“As Trump wins, Bloomington community grapples with immigration first-hand”

Unfortunately, It is not hard to imagine some of these refugees will be taken under the wing of the Islamic Center in Plainfield, In.

Gotcha.
One of the nice things about living in such a huge, diverse country is the ability to vote with your feet. If a person wants to live amongst left-wing lunatics whose primary goal in life is to commit national suicide to show how serious they are about ‘inclusiveness’, there is a place for you. If a person wants to live amongst serious Bible-beaters who think Jesus doesn’t want women to be able to vote and that you should have your hand cut off for shoplifting, you can find that place as well.
I don’t want to live in either of those places, for the record. Frankly, the middle of nowhere is looking pretty good as far as retirement options for this guy!
This is why our family goes to Purdue, USI, Oakland City, and Rose-Hulman. Just driving into Bloomington and seeing what’s walking around the campus will make a person’s skin crawl.
And the students are even worse.
And I forgot to list UE with the other good schools our family members attend. Sorry, Aces.
Drove down Lincoln by UE last night and the Administration building was bathed in purple light. Went back and took a picture.

Excellent picture, Bandana. Thanks for the link and effort.
Do you feel that the Mayor has been a good steward of the public trust?
No way ! The Mayor consistently states that the City is in strong financial shape, yet about once a quarter the C & P lifts the veil and reports that we have a $ 6 Million “deficit”/unpaid Health Insurance bills; that the State Board of Accounts has warned about cash shortfalls; or that the Bank Accounts still are not reconciled–after four years of trying and blaming it on a new computer system.
This is not reflective of a public figure serving the public trust. Where is the transparency in all of this ?
“….This is not reflective of a public figure serving the public trust. Where is the transparency in all of this ?” (Lime)

The “transparency” is behind that closed door meeting the SBOA has when they meet with the city to discuss their financial compliance audit findings, and it never makes it out of that door in its original pristine form because the Governor of this State looks the other way when the SBOA suppresses the information, as opposed to releasing it in a timely manner to the public. We have learned that not only the SBOA can be manipulated, but bond rating agencies have also been dragged into this mess.
Don’t forget to donate to the local charities during this season. The Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Christian Life Center, Life Choices, all the food banks, and many more are always in need and at this time, even more.
Give to them as a present to yourself.
An article today is very disturbing. It seems that Los Angeles county in going to bury, in a mass grave, over 1400 individuals whose remains were never claimed.
It brings to mind an organization that once flourished in this country. Its footprint is all around us in the form of lodge buildings and cemeteries. The International Order of the Odd Fellows had a presence in nearly every good size city back in the day, and they did good work:
______________
The command of the IOOF is to “visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan”. Specifically, IOOF are dedicated to the following purposes:
To improve and elevate the character of mankind by promoting the principles of friendship, love, truth, faith, hope, charity and universal justice.[27][28]
To help make the world a better place to live by aiding each other in times of need and by organizing charitable projects and activities that would benefit the less fortunate, the youth, the elderly, the environment and the community in every way possible.
To promote good will and harmony among peoples and nations through the principle of universal fraternity, holding the belief that all men and women regardless of race, nationality, religion, social status, gender, rank and station are brothers and sisters
To promote a wholesome fraternal experience without violence, vices and discrimination of every form.

What has happened to our Country that we can not even give a decent burial to a deceased person, even if we do not know their name? We talk a lot about putting our feet back on the right path, this would be a very good issue where we could start to do that.
Press, excellent commentary on a very sad situation.
