The Albion Chapter of Students Against Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E.) will be hosting an event on Monday November 21st, 2016 at the Central branch of the EVPL called “In Their Shoesâ€. This is a social simulation to help both adult and youth participants understand abusive teen relationships. In the simulation, participants will play the role of teen characters, make choices and see what happens. Following the simulation there will a discussion for the adults and teen participants.
1 in 3 U.S. teens will be the victim of some form of teen dating abuse. Teens who experience teen dating abuse are at higher risk of having long-term consequences such as drug or alcohol abuse, eating disorders, risky sexual behavior, decrease in academic participation depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. Only 1/3 of the teens who were involved in an abusive relationship confided in someone about the violence.
