The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team saw its three-match road winning streak snapped by Missouri University of Science & Technology, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in Rolla, Missouri. USI saw its record fall to 8-7-0 overall and 5-7-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Missouri S&T goes to 3-9-0, 3-8-0 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles started Sunday with a one-goal deficit as the Miners opened the scoring at 10:10 to take a 1-0 lead. USI would get the equalizer at 23:20 when sophomore defender Olivia Wilde (Racine, Wisconsin) scored her fifth goal of the season. She was assisted on the play by freshman defender Addie Deppe (St. Charles, Missouri).
In the second half, the match was all Miners as Missouri S&T scored the eventual game-winning goal at 67:05 and an insurance goal at 81:10. After a close first half, Missouri S&T outshot USI, 16-5, in the match.
USI concludes its longest and final road trip of the regular season Friday at 5 p.m. when it visits McKendree University. The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field for the final two regular season games of 2016 when they host the University of Illinois Springfield October 23 at noon for Senior Day and Bellarmine University October 26 at 5 p.m.
