OTTERS BRING THE BATS

The Evansville Otters brought the bats early in a 5-3 victory over the Washington Wild Things. The Wild Things started the game off with bases loaded, but the Otters defense clamped down and allowed one run. The Otters would go on to score two runs and have five hits in the first. Chris Breen would knock in Josh Allen with an RBI-single, and Christopher Riopedre would then score Breen with his own single.

The Otters would shut the Wild Things down for zero hits in the second, and the Otters would add another run to the board after a wild pitch would bring in Kolten Yamaguchi. In the third the Wild Things only managed one hit. The Otters would go on for three hits and score three runs. Riopedre would find himself another RBI by scoring Breen with a double. Jeff Gardner would give himself an RBI scoring Nik Balog with a sac-fly into center field. No runs would be scored by either team until Wild Things, Logan Uxa, hit his sixth home run of the season.

With a 5-2 lead, the Otters brought in Randy McCurry to close out the game. McCurry would allow one run, but received his 18th save on the season. Preston Olson started on the rubber and received the win for the Otters and allowed three hits and two runs in his six innings pitched. Olson moved to four and two on the season. Luke Wilkins received the loss tonight allowing ten hits and five runs in his six innings pitched. Wilkins moved to two and four on the season.
