Dear Friend,
House Republicans are committed to finding ways to help veterans as they adjust to civilian life.
Several new laws went into effect at the beginning of this month to benefit our Hoosier veterans.
A new law expands eligibility to the Military Family Relief Fund, so more military families will be able to access temporary financial assistance to pay for essentials like food, housing and medical services.
Indiana is also increasing access to programs benefiting veterans who do not currently qualify under federal criteria.
Now, 20-year military veterans who want to serve as police officers or firefighters will be able to apply for these positions under a new law waiving the maximum hiring-age restrictions.
Did you know? Indiana has the second-lowest veteran unemployment rate in the nation.
We have made great strides, and I will continue working to repay the debt we owe to the men and women who protect our freedom.

Sincerely,
State Rep. Wendy McNamara
