Dear Friend,
Do you know of a student looking for ways to help pay for college? The Indiana 21st Century Scholars program, which was recently renamed in honor of former governor Evan Bayh, was established to help students from low-income families achieve their goal of going to college. Hoosier students can enroll in the program as early as seventh grade, but no later than June 30 of their eighth-grade year. To sign up for the program and learn about the eligibility requirements, click here. Students who are in the program not only receive a scholarship, but also are provided with the tools needed to assist with college applications, the admission process, financial aid and campus visits. The 21st Century Scholarship program has helped more than 70,000 low-income Hoosier students pay for college, many of these students were the first in their families to receive higher education. This scholarship is a great way for students in our community to achieve educational success, and develop the character traits and work ethic that will carry them into adulthood. Please remember that the deadline for students entering the eighth grade to apply is quickly approaching.
