The Evansville Otters were defeated by the Joliet Slammers 7-2 on the first match of a three game home series at Bosse Field. The Slammers scored early and often as they managed to record three hits and draw two walks in the very first inning of the contest to gain a 4-0 lead. Joliet would tack on an additional two runs in the fourth after a wall-scraping homerun by Alfredo Rodriguez to increase the lead to 6-0. Evansville’s offense appeared fairly anemic through the first half of the contest. In fact, the Otters mustered only one hit through the first four innings. The home team would score a run in the fifth following an RBI single by third baseman, Christopher Riopedre, and in the ninth after an opposite field RBI single from rightfielder, Kaeo Aliviado. The duo of Chris Breen and Nik Balog went 1-4 in the game to finish the day tied with the team-lead in batting average at .391.
Next, the Otters will look to bounce back as they face off against the Joliet Slammers tomorrow, with first pitch slated for 6:35 pm CDT. Tickets are on sale and may be obtained online or by calling (812) 435-8686.
