Tournament set for Sunday through Tuesday
Beginning on Sunday, the University of Evansville women’s golf team will take part in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Chicago, Ill.
Harborside International Golf Center will be the host of the 54-hole event with the champion heading to the NCAA Regionals. Evansville is coming off of an 8th place finish in the event last season. The best finish in the conference championship for the Purple Aces has been a seventh.
Kayla Katterhenry was the top performer for UE in last season’s championship. She tied for 18th place and was named to the All-Conference Team.
Last weekend, Evansville took part in the ISU Spring Invite in Terre Haute. The tournament was limited to just one round due to inclement weather. Giulia Mallmann finished the opening round with an 80 and tied for 31st overall. She finished the day two strokes ahead of Kayla Katterhenry, who notched an 82 to open the tournament. Katterhenry finished tied for 41st.
Maggie Camp was third for the Purple Aces. Her effort of 83 put her in a tie for 50th. Madison Chaney was next in the opening round. The freshman carded an 86. Fellow frosh Maria Pickens rounded out the team with an 88.
As a team, Evansville tied for 12th place.
