IS IT TRUE that State Representative Tom Washburn lives in the 47720 zip code area and uses post office box located within a post office in the 47725 zip code area?  … his campaign uses a post office  box with the 47618 zip code which is for Inglefield Indiana a neighborhood within the northeastern part of Darmstadt?  …we wonder why does Mr Washburn do that?
IS IT TRUE that it was reported by Courier and Press political writer Tom Langhorne that Vanderburgh County Commissioners candidate Alex Schmitt has been repeatedly late in paying his county property taxes in recent years?
IS IT TRUE Schmitt claims that his late property tax payments was caused by “missed communications” between him, his homeowners insurance company and the bank that financed his home loan?
IS IT TRUE it has been reported y the Courier and Press that Mr. Schmitt also has at least seven debt collection actions filed against him since 2013 because of medical bills?
IS IT TRUE his opponent Cheryl Musgrave, believes that Mr. Schmitt’s financial issues problems question his readiness to serve in elected office at this time?
IS IT TRUE we are disappointed that Mayor Winnecke hand picked candidate for the Vanderburgh County Commission Alex Schmitt has deemed it necessary to get personal and insulting towards Mrs. Musgrave? …his statement that Mrs. Musgrave was forced to leave her position as the CEO of Keep Evansville Beautiful was totally inaccurate? Â …we are pleased that Mr. Schmitt retracted this statement and admitted he was wrong?
IS IT TRUE we are pleased that Mr. Schmitt admitted that he got his information that  Musgrave’s was forced to resign her position from Keep Evansville Beautiful came from  the Mayors Chief of Staff. Steve Schaefer?  …all we can say about Mr. Schaefer libel remarks towards Mrs. Musgrave is that this is a prime example why he is considered to be Mayor Winnecke’s biggest political liability?
IS IT TRUE Mr. Schmitt’s statement that’s Cheryl Musgrave was petty, rude, and insulting was a low blow?  …he should had said; Mrs. Musgrave is headstrong, very bright, aggressive, opinionated, honest and caring, extremely knowledgable about government, has integrity and far from being perfect?
IS IT TRUEÂ our most recent “Readers Poll” question was:Â Do you feel that the Vanderburgh County GOP Chairman Wayne Parke should publicly endorse candidates running in the Republican primary? Â …we had a whooping 464 people voting in this poll? Â …376 voted “NO”, Â 50 people voted “YES” and 38 people said they have “NO IDEA”?Â
IS IT TRUE we are hearing that the ranks and file members of the local trade unions are splitting their votes between Brandon Lee Ferguson and Ryan Hatfield who are running for Indiana House District 77 seat?  …we have confirmed that State Representative Gail Riecken has broken her promise that she will remain natural in the Democratic primary election?  …it’s a well known fact that when a lame duck politician gets involved in a primary battle more than not it hurts the person they support?
FOOTNOTE: todays “Readers Poll” question is: Do you feel that County Commission candidate Alex Schmitt personal financial problems question his readiness to serve in elected office?

I was surprised at the detail of the report on Mr. Schmitt in the local rag. Will we see more of this level of investigating on other city/county matters?
Are you implying the C & P has crossed Winnecke? Schmitt is his hand picked candidate. Has he lost his control over that media outlet?
The Courier & Press Editorial Board and their socialist cartoonist are almost as far left as the Daily Kos.
What does that have to do with my comment? Also, Tim Ethridge is a fairly radical conservative.
Let’s hope. Could we be getting ourselves a newspaper owned by a company that is bound by journalistic ethics?
You would have to clean out the present management, disinfect the place, and bring in a new crew for the local establishment to buy. Not likely to happen in my lifetime.
It is pretty amazing…the unintended consequences of the Winnecke/GOP trying to take out Cheryl Musgrave as a power/political adversary by running Alex Schmitt against her…..only to create a public relations opportunity that raises the profile of County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave to unheard of levels now.
With a win….Musgrave becomes a high profile Vanderburgh County counterweight to City Mayor Lloyd Winnecke.
Gail, disingenuous? Say it isn’t so!
Alex, you apparent deadbeat, say it ain’t so.
Gail isn’t running for anything. Schmitt is, apparently because he can’t do anything else, including paying his bills. He oughta be able to sop up a little money around here with that law degree. I guess not. He might be that rare bird that couldn’t run a brothel in a gold rush.
(whew! visceral…I’m not disagree’n, I’m just sayin’….pretty visceral)
There is nothing sinister in what Mr. Washburne is doing. The P.O. boxes he is using are located close to his home. It would not be unusual for a person to keep one for business purposes, and it would be a good practice to have a separate one for your campaign.
Bergwitz for commissioner. She has common sense and no agenda
I thought her agenda was to “protect the unborn” and keep America safe from non-Christians, as a Vanderburgh County Commissioner.
And to stand up against the Abortion in Obamacare, which doesn’t exist.
…I literally laughed out loud when I saw the picture of Brenda Bergwitz kicking her feet up in front of the banner fence saying Obamacare kills the unborn. That picture is a gem.
If she can’t spend 5 minutes googling to figure out that’s not accurate, how can we expect her to take the time to do the due diligence required as a County Commissioner?
And she pays her bills
To the Voters, Cheryl Musgrave appears to be the “only adult in the room.”
Kind of like how voters on both sides of the aisle are now realizing Hillary Clinton is the adult in the room compared to the Republican Party Trump/Cruz reality show train wreck.
Oh…..this just out too (for all of those people reduced to hoping there is a “Hail Mary Pass” to stop Clinton):
POLITICO: ” A review of dozens of recent federal investigations for mishandling of classified records suggests that it’s highly unlikely there will be any charges against Hillary Clinton over mishandling emails. The examination, which included cases spanning the past two decades, found some with parallels to Clinton’s use of a private server for her emails, but — in nearly all instances there other details leading to prosecution — aggravating circumstances that do not appear to be present in Clinton’s case. The relatively few cases that drew prosecution almost always involved a deliberate intent to violate classification rules – as well as – some add-on element: An FBI agent who took home highly sensitive agency records while having an affair with a Chinese agent; a Boeing engineer who brought home 2000 classified documents and whose travel to Israel raised suspicions; a National Security Agency official who removed boxes of classified documents and also lied on a job application form, Petraus failing to preserve National Security information while trying to impress his counterpart in a sexual affair.”
I could give Alex Schmitt a bit of leniency on the medical bills, but the perpetual lateness on real estate taxes is different.
It does not matter though because Cheryl Musgrave is more prepared to serve whether he was late on some payments or not. There is really no comparison with respect to who is most prepared to serve as the Chief Executive of Vanderburgh County.
This should be Cheryl in a landslide.
Never underestimate the power of the tweeter in chief. Also don’t underestimate the stupidity of the electorate.
Right English Bob. Voters are dumbasses. We should decide for them. Or better yet, we should have someone smart like English Bob decide for the voters. That’s an even better idea. He’s been saying we should ignore the voters for some time now, and it’s high time we started letting E-Bob decide for us.
English Bob is right! He just explained how Obama got elected.
The “poorly educated” vote republican. This is no secret.
Here is a link to an article on that subject.
https://www.debt.org/faqs/americans-in-debt/economic-demographics-democrats/
Here are some excerpts:
“An individual’s likelihood of being a Democrat decreases with every additional dollar he or she earns. Democrats have a huge advantage (63 percent) with voters earning less than $15,000 per year.”
“There are two distinct levels of education among Democrats: those without a high school diploma and those with post-graduate degrees.”
” Republicans gain a majority of support from high school graduates, individuals with some college experience, and college graduates.”
“The most loyal bloc of Democratic supporters are African-Americans, with women supporting Democrats a staggering 90 percent of the time and men slightly less.”
“There is a 35-point difference between Democrats and Republicans, with Democrats far more likely to support government assistance programs.”
“Republicans tend to give more to charity, while Democrats support publicly funded assistance programs. ”
“While Democrats lose support as income increases, there seems to be a tipping point where the ultra-wealthy begin leaning Democratic. The most famous example would be the entertainment industry, where star-studded events have become a significant part of Democratic culture.”
So, I think that particular article seems to have dispelled your claim that the “poorly educated” vote republican and hopefully shined some light on the differences in the parties followers.
The real intelligent people who think for themselves avoid party loyalty like a cat avoids a baptism.
From Joe Wallace’s linked article:
Education
There are two distinct levels of education among Democrats: those without a high school diploma and those with post-graduate degrees. Republicans gain a majority of support from high school graduates, individuals with some college experience, and college graduates.
Recent trends have seen an erosion of support in the Republican advantage among college graduates, but they still receive a slim majority of the vote in this category.
I could believe that one late tax payment could have been the fault of a “miscommunication”, but after that a responsible person would have cleared that up.
He denied being aware he was being sued for those medical bills, I doubt that. They generally go to great pains to make you aware there is an action pending.
Personal financial issues notwithstanding, he apparently doesn’t think before he speaks. That is more disturbing to me than his personal finances. Besides Cheryl has proven record and name recognition she is immensely qualified for commissioner.
To Joe Wallace’s comment at 4:55 PM April 11 – The last sentence says it all in a nut shell.
Thanks Joe.
