    • Hey Joe…..Had b’fast/brunch w/ a large group of people at Toast across the street from the Amphitheater (at Helfrich’s). It is a great space, they have a nice vision for what they are trying to do, but the food, well it was good….but not great. They are close, but clearly need professional kitchen help. Nicely conceived menu items, but everything that came out was kinda dull, not real well prepared.

    • Somebody else on here nailed it when they said Mesker is following the same formula as they did with Roberts Stadium. Winnie’s renewed interest in it is interesting considering he presided over letting it fall into disrepair in the first place. Within a year it will be given away in some form or fashion to one of his buddies or they make it part of the zoo and one of his buddies gets to build the new part without bidding out the job.

    • You need to check out the Facebook page for “Save Mesker Amphitheatre”. They’re planning a fundraiser with bands in each of the shelter houses in the park in May, I think.

      • August 2, 1989, Mesker Amphitheater,

Performing: Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, support act…. The Stray Cats

Can you imagine SRV and Brian Setzer performing there? I was there, and it was a super night. I was also there, with most of the young girls in Evansville, when Gene Pitney arrived with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars.

When Mesker Amphitheater was opened it was second only to the Hollywood Bowl in outdoor theaters. As you will see by this list of highlights for the Hollywood Bowl, things do not always run as smoothly as desired, but when the chips are down, people always recognize the value of the Arts in society, and consistently come to the rescue when it is needed.

        • I was also there, with most of the young girls in Evansville, when Gene Pitney arrived with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars.
Tickets were only $5. I have fond memories of a Kentucky girl at that concert. ;>)

          • PAK…What a great story. Smile, smile. I mean, who get’s a chance to say they saw Gene Pitney with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars …..just great.

  1. Republicans keep going to the Courts to try to create new rules to restrict the number of Democrats who can vote….(fewer voting days, no online voting, no weekend voting, only voting from 8am-5pm, etc). You know, don’t win hearts, minds and opinions, instead, take away the right to vote of people who disagree with you!!

They came up with a new one, incredibly blatant, incredibly aggressive….which they branded “one person, one vote.” (A total lie, like when GW Bush named something “The Patriot Act” when it was designed to look at your phone, email and personal files.) The intent? Rewrite the voter district creation rules so you can limit the number of people who are more likely to vote Democratic and obtain representation at the ballot box.

How? Instead of counting actual population in a district, “GOP: Well, let’s count only eligible voters!” In practice, drawing districts this way would almost inevitably mean taking power away from urban areas more likely to vote Democratic and sending power to rural areas more likely to vote Republican. Which was of course the whole point.

Luckily…..the Supreme Court struck this total thieving process idea…DOWN and it lost….8-0. Unanimous.
Which is great, but even more importantly, it showed clearly the depths of thieving possible from the “We have to stop voter fraud” crowd (cause actual voter fraud is about as prevalent as extinct dodo birds) by creating new, harder ways to vote!

    • Don, Wow, “one person, one vote”. What new idea will those rascally Republicans come up with next!

      • ….I see you fell for the moniker Joe. That’s the whole point, the (now ruled unconstitutional) law was never about one-person, one-vote. You’re being distracted sheep.

  2. I just checked the SAVE MESKER MUSIC AMPHITHEATER Faccebook page. There will be bands on stages at both shelters and the patio at Toast. It will take place on May 28 from 11 am to 11pm. The group is seeking sponsorships, ranging from $50 for an individual sponsorship.

  3. So Trump is going to get Mexico to pay between $5 & 10 billion dollars for a wall by threatening to cut off remittances flowing back to Mexico mostly by illegals working here;

“Nearly $25 billion was sent home by Mexicans living abroad in 2015, mostly in the form of money transfers, according to the Mexican central bank. In his memo, Trump said that “the majority of that amount comes from illegal aliens.”

BUT, he promises to round up and send home all those people sending remittances back home as one of his first acts after becoming president which is suppose to cost around $400 billion to do that.

So if he single handedly eliminates his power of using remittances to get Mexico to pay for the wall, then what is his back up plan of getting them to build it Joe?

Plus he’s going to naturally cut taxes and erase the national debt in 8 years and hunt down and kill a rabid ninja with his bare hands while wearing a Speedo.

Stay tuned folks, it’s actually all very simple to do.

    Believe me….

      • Bob….logic is a two way street you know. So today, you like logic.
No worries. Tomorrow, you can go back to lobbing bombs again.

    • So here is an outside the box way to get Mexico to build the wall. Hire them to build it. Then they could build a wall about 50 feet into Mexico and avoid all of the federal regulations that would drive the price of the wall up if the USA builds it.

Most of the highly populated areas already have walls with entry/exit gates where roads cross the border. Hell, if it is made legal for Americans to buy prescriptions from Mexican Farmacias online, it will be worth it for Mexico to build the wall and pay for it in trade.

Under that scenario, our citizens save a bundle on prescriptions and Mexico builds a wall. It won’t keep determined people out but it will make it slightly more difficult. We could both charge a toll to enter the country.

      • The elimination of eminent domain on this side of the border would be a welcome relief to the land owners on the Southern border also with your idea.

40% of the people here illegally never crossed the Southern border, ( like the 19 hijackers on 9-11 for instance.) And after seeing the tunnel El Chapo escaped from prison in, I doubt the wall will make that much difference. But it will at least give the graffiti artists a new venue to start on after they run out of boxcars….

        • Are you staying that these 40% other illegals came in across our northern border (Canada), or through the west coast and east coast ports? My God! We need to build a wall to keep out Terrance & Phillip and Lorne Greene and Anne Murray and Shania Twain and Gordon Lightfoot and Howie Mandel and Donald Sutherland and Dan Aykroyd and Captain Kirk. We’ve got to stop those hosers now! No telling what those igloo-dwelkers are aboot to do!

      • Joe, Pure genius to build it in their side! However, it might take 50 years if you’ve ever seen the speed of Mexican construction

      • “Fixed fortifications are monuments to the stupidity of man.”
        – General George Patton Jr

        * * * * * *

Another way of putting it is: They will find another way in.

      • Of course they’ll build it with used cinder blocks topped with broken bottles and glass and recycled refrigerator doors for entry points. Just like the Mexican middle and upper class use to keep their lower class next door neighbors out of their yards…

  4. Trump the only candidate that could make Hillery look good. Logicly we are going to have a choice between Bad and Evil.

    • Kasich would mop the floor with Hillary this go around and I don’t understand the thinking of the Republican base.

      But then I guess I never did….

      • …Some people are upset about being lied to by Tea Party Fundraisers working on commission promising to repeal Obamacare. That sounds like a joke, but it’s not, it’s not a joke. They been sayin’ that for how many years now? Then there’s the people who wouldn’t stand up and say, “This crap about Obama being born in Kenya. Just stop.” Those Kenya conspiracy people hate other people because of their skin color. It’s just that simple.
Buzzards came home to roost Regulator.

      • If you think she’s going to be indicted, you’re going to be disappointed. Bush would sooner belong in prison.

  5. Dear CCO Editors

    Hey there!

You had comments about Alex Schmitt yesterday (he is the Republican running for County Commissioner against Cheryl Musgrave) and the fact he has been sued a number of times

Did you know he apparently lost his position at the law firm he was at? His picture no longer appears on the law firms website.

Just an FYI you might want to investigate

  6. Here is the link to the home page of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, the law firm he was at

Now if you go to the Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP staff director for the area Schmitt would be listed:

    Nope, no longer there!

I then used the Internet Wayback Machine, and the staff page for Alex Schmitt, which was:

Nope, using that link takes you to a blank at Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP

  8. An elderly spinster called the lawyer’s office and told the receptionist she wanted to see the lawyer about having a will
prepared. The receptionist suggested they set up an appointment for a convenient time for the spinster to come into the office.

The woman replied, “You must understand, I’ve lived alone all my life, I rarely see anyone, and I don’t like to go out. Would it be possible for the lawyer to come to my house?”

The receptionist checked with the attorney who agreed and he went to the spinster’s home for the meeting to discuss her estate
and the will. The lawyer’s first question was, “Would you please tell me what you have in assets and how you’d like them to be distributed under your will?”

She replied, “Besides the furniture and accessories you see here, I have $400,000 in my savings account at the bank.”

“Tell me,” the lawyer asked, “how would you like the $400,000 to be distributed?”

The spinster said, “Well, as I’ve told you, I’ve lived a reclusive life, people have hardly ever noticed me, so I’d like them to
notice when I pass on. I’d like to provide $350,000 for my funeral.”

The lawyer remarked, “Well, for $350,000 you will be able to have a funeral that will certainly be noticed and will leave a lasting
impression on anyone who may not have taken much note of you! But tell me,” he continued, “what would you like to do with the remaining $50,000?”

The spinster replied, “As you know, I’ve never married, I’ve lived alone almost my entire life, and in fact I’ve never slept
with a man. Before I die, I’d like you to use the $50,000 to arrange for a man to sleep with me.”

“This is a very unusual request,” the lawyer said, adding, “but I’ll see what I can do to arrange it and get back to you.” That
evening, the lawyer was at home telling his wife about the eccentric spinster and her weird request. After thinking about how much she could do around the house with $50,000, and with a bit of coaxing, she got her husband to agree to provide the service himself.

She said, “I’ll drive you over tomorrow morning, and wait in the car until you’re finished.” The next morning, she drove him to the spinster’s house and waited while he went into the house. She waited for over an hour, but her husband didn’t come out. So she blew the car horn.

Shortly, the upstairs bedroom window opened, the lawyer stuck his head out and yelled, “Pick me up tomorrow! She’s going to
    let the County bury her!”
