  1. Related to the GOP Commissioner’s race, expect post-primary activities with the US Treasury investigation into possible corruptive activities with the Evansville Brownfields Corporation land bank’s transaction with D-Patrick’s Auto Dealership. The EBC used federal blight funds to evict residents and demolish those resident’s homes in order to procure prime commercial land for the local auto dealer. This all happened in Evansville’s 4th Ward.

    • I think you will find it was ERC and DMD that did this. I think you will also find that the City Council fully condoned it.

  2. This is some interesting reading:

If I’m correct, the CEOs of both local hospitals belong to the club along with the publisher of the local paper. It looks like they decided to spend $150,000 to lobby for a medical school downtown. They really weren’t interested in having it anywhere else, and they had an inside track to some good media bias. Now the taxpayers get to pay the bills for the ole boys and girls getting what they want.

    • I wanted it downtown too. Am I a good ole boy? Nope.
There is little dispute that downtown Evansville is the best location for a once-in-a-50-year economic development event like adding a Medical School to Evansville.
What IS reasonable to dispute is the financial structuring for the project.
But location? Any location besides downtown ranks a “C” or lower.
(There are those who disagree. They are wrong.
Putting a medical school in a suburban sprawl environment next to Taco Bell and Best Buy is a joke.)
