UE men’s golf in second in Jacksonville

UE in Jacksonville for the week

 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A full team effort has the University of Evansville men’s golf team in second place at the Don Benbow Invitational following the opening round.

Will Knights finished the opening day with a 71 to sit in 5th place on the leaderboard.  Tyler Gray is one behind him with a 72.  He is tied for 6th place.

The rest of the squad also performed exceptionally well as the trio of Rick Voyvodic, Wil Pahud and Joseph Addante each carded rounds of 77 and are tied for 18th.

As a team, the Aces finished with a 287.  They are 8 strokes behind leader Florida Atlantic and have a one shot lead over 3rd place IUPUI.

Three individuals played on Monday for UE.  Jon Pick was the top performer, posting a 77.  Noah Reese completed the first day with an 81 while Austin Carmack finished with an 84.

Laval University golfer Arthur Heinkele and FAU individual Yuki Fujii sit atop the individual list.  Both recorded rounds of 68 to open the event.

UE wraps up the tournament on Tuesday.
