IS IT TRUE we would like to congratulate  Channel 44 General Manager Jeff Fisher and his talented young staff of news reporters for providing our Community with fresh and accurate news?  …Channel 44 News General Manager Jeff Fisher is giving the so called “established main stream media” types a run for their money?
IS IT TRUE we are hearing that the slogan of Democratic candidate for State Representative seat #77 Brandon Lee Ferguson is getting peoples attention? Â …his campaign slogan states the “American made is the only way”?
IS IT TRUE that George Lumley has identified $3 million in funding that could go directly to demolishing homes, repairing sidewalks and incentives to renovate reparable homes?  …that this funding is new money from the River Boat fund and the expected value of properties that Brownfields Corp. is asking the City and County to give them?  …that the Brownfields  Corp. will do some demolition but intend to use the funds for land banking?  …that their idea of land banking is actually land control?  …that they want the taxpayer to continue to fund their “investment” activity of deciding who owns or develops the properties they chose to buy or acquire from money given to them by the county taxpayers?
IS IT TRUE that the new City Council is looking for new City Attorney?  … the next President of the Evansville City Council Missy Mosby, D-2nd Ward,  declared that the position will be contract-based and the City Council Attorney will no longer be classified as a city employee?  …Mosby also declares that all applicants must submit their resume, qualifications and proposals to the City Clerks’ office by noon Dec. 15?  …the application must be sealed and include the rates and fees of the applicant?
IS IT TRUE our “MOLE” tells us don’t be surprised that the new City Council Attorney will have strong Republican connections?
IS IT TRUE we would like to thank the out going City Council Attorney Scott Danks for doing one ‘Hell of a Job” during the last 4 years dealing with the unpredictable personalities on City Council?
IS IT TRUE a four-term Elkhart County Prosecutor said Monday that he will seek the Republican nomination to be the State’s next Attorney General?  …yesterday Curtis Hill  Jr disclosed his intentions to run for this position and announced he is forming a campaign committee to consider a run?  … that County Prosecutor Hill states he has more than 30 County Prosecutors and numerous police and law enforcement officials have endorsed him for this position?  …we wonder if our popular Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Nick Hermann was one of the 30 County Prosecutors that endorse him?
IS IT TRUEÂ we predict that Vanderburgh County Republication Party can now deliver the votes needed to help elect any serious candidate on the State GOP Â ticket? …Evansville/Vanderburgh County is now considered a safe Republican strong hold for many years to come because of the results of the last Mayoral election?
IS IT TRUEÂ we give special thanks to the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party Chairman, local Union leaders, Â City Council members Missy Mosby and Jonathan Weaver, and the political power brokers of the 4th and 6th Wards for making Evansville/Vanderburgh County a safe Republican strong hold for many years to come?
IS IT TRUE we can’t wait to see how the above individuals and groups are going to convince the Rick Davis and the Gail Riecken Democrats to support anyone running on the local or State Democratic party ticket?
IS IT TRUE todays “READERS POLL” question is: “Do you feel that Missy Mosby will do an outstanding job as the next President of the Evansville City Council”?
I think Missy will do an outstandingly bad and embarrassing job as City Council President, so should that be a “yes” vote?
Despite the Winnecke machine, I think some statewide Democrats still stand a chance in presidential election years, albeit a slim one. I predict that Evansville will see a mass exodus of Davis/Riecken supporters to the lower taxes of surrounding counties or to warmer climates.
we’ve already moved
We keep looking at the realty listings but cannot find what we need to replace what we have for a decent price. We narrowed things down to just 3 things that seem to be keeping us here. And we keep reviewing the list. Hope you enjoy your new home jbyrd.
we found a great deal on a wonderful home in Warrick County, in an area we never would have dreamed of looking at. Thankfully we had a real estate agent, who, unlike Missy or the Beaver listened to her constituents and delivered us what we wanted
I believe that this statement of yours must be rebuked, Elkaybee. First, the clear implication is that Riecken and Davis voters, who are all liberal Democrats, seek to evade their fair share of taxes by going to lower tax jurisdictions. This makes liberal Democrats appear to be absolute hypocrites, since we are supposed to be for higher taxes. It is true that we are actually hypocrites, but we should not advertise it. Second, many of our Democratic colleagues like Bandana and Bob pay very few taxes, anyway, so why should they want to escape to lower-tax places?

Nice new ITT graphic, once you navigate to it. Convenient to be able to click on the much improved masthead to get back to the front page. I think the previous one was linked to the opening page too but the new one offers a more aestheticly pleasing clicking experience, which is what I seek.
Mosby earned the right to run to keep her seat by around 12 votes, I think. I personally haven’t seen anything to recommend her. Sometimes people rise to the job, I’m not sure she is capable of that. I hope I’m wrong there, that she doesn’t continue to run true to form. In any event, she’ll be managed by the administration as she has been for the last few years. There will be votes, likely several of the money extraction variety, for her to defend the next time she runs. She could well be even more vulnerable to a primary challenge than she was the last time. All said though, if some effective person doesn’t step forward to lead the local Democratic party the same group will be in office as long as they want.
We lost the most effective leader we had when SBR decided not to run. I have some hopes for a couple of the new members to step up, but I think all of the ones who were already serving will not be showing us much in the way of leadership.
Every dog has his day.
I hear that some of Missy’s political pals are getting her a makeover. She’s getting fashion advice and is on a diet and modeling in a fashion show. I guess she is going to get lessons on how to screw up a meeting from the experts, Adams and Friend. Good luck on turning a sow’s ear into a silk purse. I always heard you can’t do it.
While I’m at it, you guys forgot a bunch of people to thank for the mess in this city. Mark Owen, Weinzapfel, Ellsworth, and Eric Williams and Sheriff Wedding all sat on their hands. The got what they want so now the place can just fall apart for all they care.
LKB,
Your comment “__________________________ will do an outstandingly bad and embarrassing job”….
Fill in the blank.
Depends on who you voted for on who gets their name there, and usually, it’s the losers in an election who say such things.
Back when the pre-election rhetoric was at full-steam, THAT was the time to be smart about things. Instead, people like Bandana just wrote absolute blather. Then….proceeded to lose, of course.
Apparently you missed the point. It was in response to my opinion of what kind of job Missy Mosby will do presiding over the City Council, so you suggestion makes no sense. You would do well to get over your obsession with Bandana. It isn’t winning you any respect. There was a time when you made some sensible posts, but it not lately that I have seen.
LKB:
Oh. I didn’t miss the point. The point is clear. The voters CLEARLY spoke. Elections have consequences.
LKB, I’m sure you are sincere in your comments, and I always stop to notice and enjoy reading them. But you can’t write from a position that ignores 62% of the voters clearly dismissed the loser’s arguments. (Riecken is an excellent public servant deserving only admiration. My comments are not directed at Gail.)
You’re a fool and a troll Becker. It tickles me to death that you’re so eternally miserable. I realize you probably have a crush on me and it makes you feel proud to write my name but it really just underscores what a pathetic, lonely little creature you are.
20/20
BANDANA:
In fact, I added that comment in there to rub the loss of the election, totally in your face. 62% !
How’s that?
Your paranoid, unadulterated trash posts in the pre-election run-up were some of the most “pathetic, eternally miserable” language ever laid down here at the CCO. So, I was thinking, “He needs to be reminded his ideas lost in a landslide to the other guy.” And you can tell you will continue to lose, that voters will NEVER agree with you, by reading the blather you still post here. (Smile.)
Some people never change. I just blocked him from my FB page.
That knife cuts both ways.
Nor does it cut only once.
…actually, my favorite knife of those I have is a Bowie knife. I’ve used it for SO many years, so many hiking/wilderness outings….can make campsite utensils, equipment, stakes, tent poles, kindling, brush clearer…and filet a fish after bringing the blade back up. I never mind the extra weight it adds.
We’ll that should free up some space on my FB for better friends LKB.
“American made is the only way” is a catchy phrase but needs some qualifications especially in manufacturing. We can’t get nor do we want every job that has went offshore. We need to focus on what we can uniquely do. I just completed reading and article by a manufacturer who has been in the machining business since 1973 and has thrived by adapting to changes rather than fighting them.
He states, “With the exception of aerospace and medical, I’ve seen metalcutting manufacturing here in Massachusetts decline significantly. In general, there is either a strategic reason for making it here, or it is what I call protected work: firearms, defense or expensive mechanical devices. Most commodity part work is gone.â€
So the only way is doing what we are uniquely capable of doing rather than fighting the world pecking for seeds.
The article: http://www.productionmachining.com/articles/making-complex-parts-profitably
Absolutely I-E. The best highly engineered component manufacturing still occurs in the US. A lot of that business went overseas once many of the trade barriers dropped, and over time have returned to the US because of the overseas lack of highly skilled tradesmen and engineers.
But you are right…commodity products are produced with least cost, and that means cheap labor.
A lot of the machine/tool and die shops are busting at the seams. You can tell that by so many recruiters now trying to recruit from your staff, or trying to bring you hard to find talent….for a SHOP floor for God’s sake. Recruiters are all over the category….it’s amazing to me.
We’ll that should free up some space on my FB for better friends LKB.
Change happens. It still amazes me how much we out pace other nations in production.
