Vanderburgh County Democratic Chairman Rob Faulkner issued the following statement on the issue of Republican City Council Candidate Jack Schriber.
“The disclosures about Jack Schriber’s admitted sexual abuse of a 15 year-old child are both tragic and troubling.
It is tragic because of its effect on the young man, and possibly others, who’ve suffered having a trusted teacher abuse that trust in such a predatory manner. We as a community should be grateful that he came forward to bring this to our attention.
It is troubling that Schriber,  among his other various and sundry excuses, blamed his predicament  to “dirty politics”.  Contrary to what he and some of his fellow Republican might think,  Schriber abusing his position of authority to commit a felonious molestation of a 15 year old kid, no matter how long ago, is relevant to his lack of fitness for office. It’s astounding and shows his arrogance that he thought he could cover up such a vile act and run for office.
It is also troubling that Schriber’s longtime dear friend, Mayor Winnecke, did not appear to respond to Schriber’s offense until it hit the news media even though Schriber’s crime was reported to the Evansville police back in July.  We are demanding the Mayor and the rest of the Republican ticket come clean with what they knew and when they knew it in light of these circumstances strongly suggesting an attempt to cover up such a heinous crime. Also troubling is that is clear that the Mayor and the Republican Party are attempting a bait and switch ploy with a wink and a nod implicitly suggesting that people should vote for Schriber anyway. They have both indicated that” if Schriber is elected” they will pick a replacement to fill the seat.  Well, if history is any guide we all should be very skeptical about their judgment.
The Vanderburgh County Democratic Party calls on the voters in this election to reject these tactics. This Mayor and the local Republican Party should not be rewarded for their slick attempt to game the system. We encourage the voters to make their choice among the other candidates on the ballot.
Finally, the Vanderburgh County Democratic party calls upon Schriber to do the right thing and donate his entire campaign fund to Holly’s House rather than to the Republican Party or some other Republican candidate who, for all we know, may have known about this for months before it became public.”

On top of the disgusting felonious actions of Jack Schriber, we now have a disgusting political action by Rob Faulkner.
Evansville deserves what it gets when a clown is the chairman of each political party and the overwhelming majority of citizens don’t bother to get involved to save their town.
But why didn’t our EPD and/or the mayor announce this back in July, August, or September? Hopefully in a couple of weeks the Citizens of Evansville will get involved…….
I call on Rob Faulkner to resign based on the comments he made to channel 14. He stated that all Republicans try to present themselves as the party of family values. When in fact he stated that tha party as a whole time and time again have a sex scandal which proves otherwise. Has he forgot the history of his own party? Democrats have killed women while drunk, to cover up affairs and been shamed out of National contest. Do a little research. Both parties are equal in theirsex scandals. This is a sad affair, but don’t belittle one when youra is just as messed up.
But only one party goes around the country squawking about their massively hypocritical moral superiority “Family Values” BAWK, Family Values BAWK Family Values BAWK
Actions speak louder than words. Mr. Faulkner, you will only be taken seriously AFTER you take action on your candidate, Jonathan Weaver.

I am no fan of Rob Faulkner, but he would be stupid to try to “take action” against Weaver based on the unproven “gossip” about him. Once there is proof offered of what most of us believe about Weaver’s debauchery, it may be possible to get him to get out of politics.

LKB, No excuses are made by me for Mr. Schriber. He was a troubled person and now all know his misdeeds. But, let’s also have Mr. Faulkner come “clean” about what he “knows” about Mr. Weaver. The family values religious right response from Mr. Faulkner is an ironic end to this sad and unfortunate saga.
Even the most blind, incompetent, dumb, stupid, moron in upper city leadership would have known the dirty details of Shriber’s sick, perverted actions. By doing nothing about this, Winnecke has covered the TRUTH. In other words, Winnecke is is an accessory after the fact to Schriber’s discusting crime against a child.
If Mayor Lloyd Winnecke had an ounce of dignity, he would resign NOW.
Democrats never waste a chance to politicize the tragedy of others.
I-E, both sides have people who do that in a bloodlust for winning. This is the ugly side of politics….(No Dems in Evlle. No Repbubs either. Not two, really more like three groups, all alive and well, who just want to “get that guy out of the chair so they can sit in the chair.”)

Its difficult to take this indignation as real from a party whose presidential canditate is dr aging a grain load of unethical behavior down the campaign trail. Winnecke has some accounting to do, but democrats need not pretend that they are to high moral voice.
Here’s another “apples and oranges” comparison from IE. Secretary Clinton has never been convicted of anything, and her actions have been investigated by the best of them. Schriber will not be convicted because of the statute of limitations, but he willingly admits to repeatedly victimizing a student in the most vile way. There is NO comparison between the slander that has been spread about Mrs. Clinton and the crimes Schriber admits to.
A lot of the Winnecke backers are showing their true colors today. Not a word about the child that suffered repeated rapes by their candidate. If the truth was known he’s just the kind of guy they like to get behind — or in front of. The prattling on about The Hildebeast is to be expected. It’s on a hard-wired loop they can’t rid themselves of.
It looks like Winnecke’s attempt to pack the council is starting to backfire.

It looks to me that Winnecke, Faulkner, and the Hildebeast will all be facing their “what did you know, and when did you know it” questions.

Schriber’s reprehensible actions speak to his longtime buddy and ticketmate Winnecke’s unfitness for office as much as they do his. Neither should be in public office. Their arrogance in handling the belated revelation of that child’s repeated molestation should not be discounted.
Time to dismiss Lloyd Winnecke from the mayor’s office, before he gets a chance to pack the council with more people like Jack Schriber. How many times will the voters around here have to learn the hard way that Winnecke is not to be trusted?

When Winnecke squeaked his famous line, ‘ It’s certainly not my proudest moment as an officeholder …’ , as he was being caught trying to go south with your Homestead Tax Credit under darkness of night, how was he to know he’d eclipse his previous worst on behalf of his friend, teacher, mentor, ticketmate and proposed council member Jack Schriber?
The public has a right to some truth from this guy. Sitting on the information he had about the serial sex crimes admitted to by his friend, while continuing to campaign for him, to ‘preserve the integrity of the investigation’ doesn’t fly. They use that excuse all the time. Come clean Winnecke.

Schriber said that “rumblings” about this started as soon as he announced, last December. As close as he and Whiney are, I feel certain that he shared the info with the Mayor long before July. If there was an ounce of integrity in Whiney’s body, he would have told his friend to stand down rather than take a chance on what has happened. Failing that, the heart attack Schriber reportedly suffered this summer would have been a way for him to end his campaign quietly. It appears to me that the Whiney the Poop chose to gamble with his pal’s reputation for the votes he could pull, which speaks volumes about his character.
So, your 10:02 post wasn’t true? Mrs. Clinton wasn’t convicted and Whiney isn’t charged with another man’s crime, but Whiney is guilty?

If you believe in due process, and elsewhere here, LKB has discussed Weaver deserves due process,
then you have to additionally acknowledge the officials in this case have to be afforded completion
of the same process before commenting.

My point is that there was no need to say anything about the sordid details publicly. All that needed to be done was announce that Schriber had resigned his spot on the ticket due to illness, personal reasons, etc.. The integrity of the investigation would have been preserved and Schriber would have been out of the spotlight. Winky didn’t do that because he wasn’t done using Jack’s “good name” to his advantage in the election. Instead, his long-time friend is publicly disgraced (as he should be) and Winky can’t lie fast enough.
Thinking of due process, and not totally in understanding of the laws of the United States, I’m wondering doesn’t this so called confession meets requirements for Mr. Schriber to register as a sexual offender as all others must according to your law? What would a constitutional challenge have to say about this if used as a defense by any other sexual offender living under that requirement?
Should he be required to register as other offenders must? Weird twists in the laws in the USA its mind boggling hypocrisy.
He also needs to come clean that they are lying about the General Fund balance. They are double-counting “Total Monies”, therefore you can deduct $2 million less of what they say that it is at any given point in time. I heard this from the State Board Auditor that is working at EVV right now.
So much to comment on.
1) So evidently Winnecke and Schriber thought they could sweep under the rug one of the biggest open secrets in Evansville? Schriber’s sexual peccadillos have been know FOR YEARS, not since July. That should tell voters something
2) Faulkner’s letter is sleazy. but so is all of Evansville’s politics. He’s correct about Parke’s and Winnecke’s pathetic attempt to get people to still vote for Schriber because they will pick a replacement. LOL
3) Mr. Schriber should be held responsible for his actions, but let’s not forget the conservative Christian, repressive puritanical attitude we have in this country regarding homosexuality. It must be horrible to go through life having to live a lie because of the knuckle draggers in this country.
4) Faulkner’s phony outrage is laughable because of another open secret in Evansville is that one of his own candidates has some very serious personal issues and Faulkner is protecting that candidate.
5) I guess that Winnecke has been getting away with so many lies about the city’s finances, about, the status of the Hotel financing for over 18 months, he must of thought, hey what is one more? Hey could they not know this would come out?
