IS IT TRUE we are extremely disappointed in the vote that 7 out of 8 Council members cast at Monday evening City Council meeting?  …City Council went along with the Mayor and his City Controller recommendations to lend the city $8 million dollars from the Riverboat and Rainey Day funds to pay overdue bills and make employee payroll?  …whats disappointing about this transaction was that 7 members of Council bluntly violated City Ordinance that clearly states that Riverboat funds can’t be used  to pay for operational expenses?  …its our opinion that the Mayor, his Controller and 7 members of City Council didn’t practice “good stewardship” on behalf of their constituencies by illegally taking money from the Riverboat fund to  pay overdue city bills?  …wonder why City didn’t take a short term loan with a local bank to pay the unpaid bills?…we are pleased that City Council Finance Chairman Conner O’Daniel voted against the Administration illegal $8 million dollar loan request?  …that Council member Connie Robinson was out of town on business and didn’t attend this meeting?
IS IT TRUE Mayor Winnecke is the CEO of a multi million dollar business called the City of Evansville ?  …its his responsibility is to ensure that the City is on solid financial footing so city services can be provided in the most efficient manner?  …City Controller Russ Lloyd Jr is responsible for insuring that all of the revenue collected in 2015, pay bills in a timely manner and stays within the budgetary restraints mandated to him by City Council?  … City Council members are the Board of Directors for Evansville and should insure that City revenues are being spent within the budget guidelines that they approved at the beginning of 2015?
IS IT TRUE the Mayor, Â his City Controller and City Council all failed the taxpayers of this community by allowing the 2015 City budget to be over spent by a whooping $8 million dollars plus? Â …if the above individuals were in charge of a multi million Corporation in the private sector that business would be forced to the brink of bankruptcy? Â …the bottom line is that the Mayor, his Controller and City Council have failed to practice sound fiscal management that insures “GOOD PUBLIC POLICY” decisions?
IS IT TRUE even after the City has overspent $8 million dollars so far in the 2015 budget the Mayor is now talking about new  capital projects he wants to do in his second term?  …the Mayor wants to spend many million of dollars on Roberts Park,  $13 million dollars on North Main project, spend millions of dollars on new attractions for Mesker Zoo, relocate Lloyd pool at an underdetermined cost,  and who knows what else?  …we almost forgot to point out that the multi million dollar Johnson Control new water meter project is still going on?  … we are also facing a $87 million dollar funding liability for building the IU Medical School a new Downtown Hotel?  …we wonder how many more capital projects can the taxpayers of Evansville afford to fund under the current tax structure?
IS IT TRUE that ordinance C 2015-15 was quietly passed at last night’s council meeting.?  …that this ordinance pulled properties from the tax sale to be demolished?  …that this was accomplished without a Brownfields expansion of their Land Banking operation as alleged was necessary, in numerous Courier and Press articles, to accomplish such transfer or stopping of properties going to the tax sale?  …that this is more evidence to stop funding going to the Brownfields Corporation as a gift,  as the Mayor has proposed,  and appropriate funds within the budget for Demolition?

Contrast the article above with the latest reelection ads our Mayor is running that includes testimonials about how he has gotten the City’s finances under control.
The weight of the available factual information out there about Evansville’s finances indicates Lloyd Winnecke is being very dishonest by having his TV spot actors say he has the city ‘finances under control’. How would they know this anyway? Maybe he’s technically correct, having a city council compliant enough to let him juggle accounts to put a good face on a broke city long enough to get him through the election. A council caving to the old ‘we can’t pay the city workers’ dodge. Maybe he means he’s temporarily suspended giving money to conmen. Maybe he’s shipped the treasury to Tucson for future reference. Maybe he has the city dollar suspended by strings manipulated by one of the very marionettists that pull his cords. Maybe he’s just lying again. In any event, the TV ad shows a consciousness of guilt but, as usual, no shame.
Cashier Winnecke in November. Evansville can’t afford anymore of his prosperity.
I know who some of the people in that disgraceful commercial are, but I was wondering who the gray-haired woman who is so adamant about “Lloyd having the city’s finances under control” is. She is either a special kind of stupid or a special kind of disgraceful to her family and friends.
That’s becky kasha , she does something for the zoo, in her mind she thinks she’s a big shot ,she is just another winky poo suck ass
I believe she’s loaded with cash
It’s one of the most transparently dishonest political commercials out there. It might be The Poop’s attempt at transparency. What a lying little clown.
Well, that’s about the size of it. And I think that the shell game played on the SBOA (switching around money to make it appear as though things were in order) was a fraudulent, criminal act.

The warning shot has already been fired over the rural Northeast side of Vanderburgh County….ANNEXATION !!! When sources of extra revenue are exhausted, and the wish list continues to grow, where will this administration turn to for the money? ANNEXTION.!!! If you live North of the City line, and East of Highway 41, your lives are about to change. ANNEXATION!!! Property taxes will be collected for 3 years before any city services are provided. The last annexation in the East Side cost the average homeowner an additional 60% in property taxes. The City is already planning for this, and current rural residents have few options. One option is to not re-elect the current administration. Although you cannot vote in the City election, you can help influence the outcome. The other option is to fight annexation, and it will cost at least ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS. Which is the least expensive????
Got to love our republican controlled state govt for making it more difficult to fight annexation. When will you fools wake up?
What is the City Limit to the North, if one were driving North on US-41 ?
Does anyone know ?
It is Petersburg Road on the west side of 41 and as far as I know something about even with that on the east side of 41 too. I live on Stringtown Road almost to Petersburg and Campground and I am still in the city but those in Old Petersburg Place are not.
The City line turns South from Petersburg Rd to St. George Road, then goes east.
I really think you have hit on something here and it is very scary! People need to wake up or move out of town and abandon the sinking ship. I cannot afford to live here as we are just retiring in a couple of months and I may have to move to another area altogether. What a sad thing to be forced to move by such stupidity.
I agree. There will be higher assessed values placed on homes, too, whether or not it is justified. If the taxpayers leave Winnie in charge of the City, he will spend us into bankruptcy regardless of how much revenue we have. He’s always going to act like the greedy kid in the toy shop and throw a tantrum when he doesn’t get everything he wants.
