Since criticism was sent my way today by a mayoral candidate for my management of DMD lets take it one at a time:
Owen Block. We invested $50k federal funds into the rehab from a grant specifically intended for saving urban structures. City councilwoman Connie Robinson approved the investment as the city will make it back in property taxes in 5 years.
Facade grants. City Council approved the program and the mayoral candidate posed for a photo with the recipients. Begs the word hypocritical.
‘Finding money’. The funds i have had my staff searching for are federal funds left behind by the last mayors administration so we can reuse them to build affordable housing and repair low income persons homes and make improvements to parks in lower income areas. Missy Mosby and Jonathan Weaver have been big helpers to me on that front.
This candidate says I am mismanaging things. Our staff located $500k left from pre 2012 which will soon be invested in new urban core housing.
Thanks for recognizing the good things my DMD team is doing.in the last year we have corrected more errors, fixed more problems left from previous administrations to the point of 100% compliance with HUD for the first time in a decade. We have worked out assistance to various agencies and re established a close relationship with Habitat for Humanity and a new one, Community One.
By criticizing this work she is criticizing her fellow candidates who have been involved and approved everything I have done, every dollar invested and every program created. Stop slamming my democrat friends on council while you are at it.
Learn before you criticize.

Kelley , besides being the mayors wife’s girlfriend ,what qualifies you as being a director of DMD ?
I mean after all ,all you are was the winner of a popularity contest in which you were the only contestant
my qualifications to ask you are I’m a tax payer and you get paid by my taxes
His qualifications include being a local personality and a prolific commenter in the CP forum boards. They could have said he was laid off from Springleaf. Truth, Winnecke saved this loser from an old age of drunken failure. He would be eating cat food if it weren’t for the Winneckes.
Mr. Coures wrote some words here. And sentences. After reading it, I still think he is full of it. I would like for him to stop operating the non-profit Brownfields out of his office. Public staff should not do the work of external “non-profits”.
I would be glad to learn before I criticize but getting access to the real records versus what someone says is very hard. Money that is found should be returned to the owner. Because the accounting department charged expenses to the wrong place does not make the fund not charged “found Money”. Where is this program that repairs peoples houses? So we are in compliance with HUD”s remediation plan at this point but where will be stand when the time runs out for disposal of the properties land banked with CDBG funds? Mr. Coures announced he had 2 years to get them into CDBG compliant purposes and that has not happened. As I have said before, a hardened criminal serving life is in “compliance” as long as he does not escape.
DMD is doing a good job with their coffee fund originated Brownfields corp. You would think with all the income it generates going to Brownfields “coffee fund” checkbook and all the expenses paid by DMD it would of course.
This guy has always been something of a semi-pro scold. It took Llitle Llord Winnecke to alow him flower, to give him a job, to let him turn pro.
He is the face of the Winnecke administration. One of 3 actually with the others being Mosby & Weaver. They are not only the embodiment of that twisted outfit, I fear they also constitute the brain trust.
Kelley is nothing more than Evansville’s own Monte Hall playing “Let’s make a deal” at the taxpayers expense.
Except you don’t choose the door. He does.
Don’t forget Carolyn ” vanna white ” Rusk!! Shes the one spinning the wheel. I’m just worried the money train stops at the Mayors desk!!
