 July 2nd at approximately 6:25a West Sector Patrol Officers were sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 3027 Mt. Vernon Avenue in reference to a burglary. The burglary was captured on surveillance video. Photos of the suspect from the burglary were sent to all Evansville Police Officers. An off-duty officer, in plain clothes, noticed a person matching the description of the suspect near Rosenberger Avenue and W. Lloyd Expressway. The off-duty officer stopped the suspect and requested on duty personnel respond to his location. The suspect was identified as Eric Lee Rickard. Rickard confessed to both uniform officers and detectives that he was responsible for breaking into the church.
Rickard was charged with the below counts and booked into the Vanderburgh County Detention Center.
