  1. Hope this scenario helps others to make a decision when choosing a flight out of Evansville.

Booked United a few months ago due to 1 stop vs 2 and lower price. Flying a week after they started service to EVV.

Boy did I screw up. Looking back on the flights to Chicago from EVV, they tend to run at approx. 50% on time. There have been many cancellations and one plane was diverted to Iowa.

First leg from EVV was over 2 hrs late. About 45 min of this was due to weather. Knowing that my next flight from Chicago was going to be missed, I approached the desk and was told they had booked me on the first United flight out of EVV “THE NEXT MORNING”! Well, after telling them that wasn’t going to work, they switched me to another route on US Air. That didn’t work either, missed the connecting flight in Chicago again due to the flight from EVV being sooooo late. Stood in line in Chicago and was rerouted with Delta. What started out to be a 6 hour flight arriving at 3pm ended up being a 15 hr ordeal ending at midnight.

The icing on the cake was when my return flight was cancelled due to Air Traffic Control at 7pm the night before a 8:30am flight. Never have figured out why Air Traffic Control cancelled the flight. Spent 1hr 15min on the phone with United to rebook flight. Needless to say, things were limited due to short notice. Again, Delta came to the rescue. However, the 6 hr flight was extended to 12 hrs, but we made it home!

Don’t think we will be flying United anytime soon. Delta definitely has my vote for best service.

  2. ATC controls flight. They neither schedule flights or cancel them. Your problem lies with the airline, not ATC. The problems you encountered w/ United happen randomly and to all airlines. It’s a crap shoot but it still beats driving, I think.

  3. The pope is basically saying to you environmentalist wackos, “How in the world can you go batty like you do over saving this plant or that block of ice, and not have the same concern for a human embryo? It doesn’t make any sense. It’s incongruous.”
