Peggy Gilkey who will be speaking about Betsy Ross. You will hear some interesting, informative and surprising information about this heroin from our American History.
Peggy has a passion for history and genealogy. She and her husband Kenneth have published the 1880-1910-1920 Lyon County Kentucky Census and the 1920 Crittenden County Kentucky census books. They assisted in transcribing the 1930 Lyon County Kentucky census book. They have also published two family history books on Ken’s families and several family histories on Peggy’s families.
Their genealogical research doesn’t only include their family; just one that they have an interest, as well of enjoying trying to help others research theirs.
They are the KyGenWeb County Coordinators for Livingston and Crittenden counties and Assistant County Coordinators for Caldwell and Lyon counties.
They are webmasters for their own Caldwell and Lyon County Cemeteries websites.
They are the administrators for the Crittenden and Livingston Counties Rootsweb Message Boards and Assistant Administrators for Caldwell and Lyon Counties Rootsweb Message Boards. The Gilkey Message Board and the Hankins mail list.
Peggy’s family lines are mostly in northern Caldwell County and Ken’s are mostly in the southern half of Caldwell County, and between them, they have a huge Caldwell County database.
Their combined family’s databases on Caldwell, Lyon, Trigg, Crittenden, Hopkins, et cetera counties
contain over 40,000 plus names.
Peggy is a member of the Captain Jacob Warrick Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Ohio Valley Indiana Society Sons of the American Revolution Ladies Auxiliary and the Ohio Valley Chapter Indiana Society Sons of the American Revolution Speakers Bureau.
She is the Recorder of Military Service Awards for the Tom Johnson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy,
She was recently commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Kentucky Governor Steven L. Beshear, for the work she has done on Kentucky Veterans research and keeping Western Kentucky history alive as well as for her involvement with the Living History programs for Caldwell County, Kentucky 5th graders for the past 6 years.
She belongs to several Genealogical Societies including TSGS and is a founding member of the Caldwell County Kentucky Genealogy Society.
This is a program you don’t want to miss, we will be looking forward to seeing you at the meeting and enjoying a very interesting and informative program.
