How will the Indiana Poetry Out Loud state finals work this year?
For the safety of all of those involved, and in consideration of the different environments in schools across the state this year, the Indiana Arts Commission has elected to hold the 2021-2022 Poetry Out Loud State Finals Contest virtually again.
State Finals Rounds 1 and 2: Recorded Videos Recitation
Recorded videos due February 17, 2022, 5pm ET
- The first two rounds of the competition will be conducted through video submissions. Due February 17, 2022, each student competing at the state finals will submit two video files of their poem recitations to the Indiana Arts Commission Flipgrid page.
State Finals Round 3: Live Recitation online
via Zoom on March 9, 2022, 5:30 pm ET
- Round 3 of this year’s Poetry Out Loud contest will be a live zoom video competition at which the students will be on camera and will recite their poem live. Judges will also be watching and scoring live on Zoom.
Scoring and Announcements
At the conclusion of the third-round recitations, the judges’ scores will be calculated in real-time, and the winner of the 2022 Poetry Out Loud competition will be announced live.
