Through her school, job and church, she met some life-long friends who she still enjoyed spending time with. She served on the board at the Evansville Protestant Home and also played the piano for the residents. Julia loved shopping, especially her annual shopping trip with her daughters. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family on vacations and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, E.B and Helon Welch and her nephew Brandon Burton Kelly.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Heilman; daughters, Lesa Heilman Woodruff (Bruce), Kendra Heilman Montgomery (Gerald) and Amy Heilman Wedding (Jeff); grandchildren, Kayla Mayer (Bryan), Haley Woodruff, Logan and Luke Montgomery, Collin and Jacob Wedding; sisters, Sharon Kelly (Larry) of Magnolia, TX, Rebecca Betulius (Steve) of Westerville, OH; and nieces, nephews and aunts.

The family would like to thank Dr. Herbert Reyes and his staff, Dr. Stephens and his staff, Chemo Buddies, Heart to Heart Hospice, Evansville Protestant Home and the E.R. and 6th floor nursing staff at St. Vincent hospital for their wonderful care.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 6, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel with Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial will take place at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 2-8pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
