1. “at this point its not known whether these deaths were suicides or just mistakes that people made who did not understand how to use street drugs after spending many years on doctor prescribed painkillers?…the resurgence of heroin and the more lethal Fentanyl happened for the most part because the medical industrial complex was handing out opioids like candy for over a decade creating a small army of drug addicts who just don’t fit the mold?”

   Do you have any evidence to back up this claim? My guess is that most people who accidentally overdose are not aware of the ever-changing strength of street drugs, especially Fentanyl. A very small amount can kill, and it often is mixed with other drugs to dramatically increase potency. My guess is that very few of these overdoses are because their doctors no longer prescribe them opioids. I would like to see one local media story where a normal, law-abiding citizen no longer had access to doctor-prescribed opioids, then sought relief on the streets, only to succumb to an overdose because he or she didn’t realize the dangers.

     the cases of former opioid users who started with their doctor’s prescription, only to become addicts who then went to the streets, are sprouting across the US like grass. Your neighbors and their kids are opioid addicts, it is everywhere, and is in no way a “bad part of town” problem. It’s in every neighborhood in America.

     • Certainly this happens on occasion. But if it’s as frequent as you say, I want to see the local story about this.

     ‘Game changer’: China agrees to crack down on fentanyl after pressure from Trump

     One week before the midterm elections, seven members of Congress jetted to China with specific marching orders from the Trump administration and Ambassador Terry Branstad: Urge Beijing to crack down on fentanyl, the No. 1 killer in the U.S. overdose crisis…

     Roughly 30,000 Americans died last year from overdoses traced back to fentanyl, which is far more deadly than regular heroin. The drug is smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico or even mailed directly through the U.S. Postal Service — but invariably is traced back to China….

     Illicit fentanyl was responsible for more than 40 percent of the 70,000 drug overdose deaths in the U.S. last year and 60 percent of opioid-related deaths….

     The Drug and Enforcement Administration decided this year to take all forms of fentanyl without accepted medical use and place them in the Schedule I list denoting the highest risk of abuse.

     “China has now done the same thing, so anyone who possesses, imports, distributes or manufactures any illicit fentanyl analogue will be subject to criminal prosecution in the same manner as for fentanyl and other controlled substances,” DEA spokesman Melvin Patterson said. “This will make it easier for Chinese law enforcement and prosecutors to prosecute traffickers of all forms of fentanyl-related substances.”

     Trump calls on China to seek the death penalty for distributors of opioid fentanyl, saying ‘the results will be incredible!’

     Over the weekend, the White House alluded to the possibility that China would seek the death penalty for distributors.

     In a statement, the White House said Xi had agreed to designate fentanyl a controlled substance, “meaning that people selling Fentanyl to the United States will be subject to China’s maximum penalty under the law.”

     The maximum sentence for drug distribution in China is the death penalty.

3. California cops ‘frustrated’ with sanctuary laws stopping them from working with ICE over twice-deported criminal

   A California sheriff whose officers were led on a wild chase earlier this week by a twice-deported illegal immigrant killer says cops are “very frustrated” with sanctuary state laws preventing them from working with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents.

   The comments from Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux come following the death of Gustavo Garcia, a 36-year-old who police say embarked on a ‘reign of terror’ robbing a convenience store, shooting and killing a person and firing at buildings before crashing a truck that he had stolen. The day-long crime spree that began Sunday in the Fresno area also left five injured, including one critical, and Lindsay Police suspect Garcia was involved in an additional murder there.

   During the chase Monday that ended in the crash that left Garcia dead, he drove the wrong way at speeds of up to 100 mph and hit four other cars – something that he appeared to have done on purpose, police said.

   “We are very frustrated with the fact that the way the laws are set up currently that law enforcement hands are tied,” Boudreaux said Wednesday, noting that in years past, Garcia – who had been in police custody shortly before the rampage — would have been handed over to ICE in cooperation with them.
